Are you there 95% of the time to know how empty it is?
Preliminary site plans have been filed for an Academy in Bryan next to Sam Rayburn MS.

That seems crazy to me that we can support 2. I mean I know ours is always busy, but I can't imagine someone in Bryan going "oh the one in CS is too far".
The academy moving a couple of blocks to a store that doesn't seem that much bigger is also confusing. I also do not understand how the old building can just sit empty for this long unless Academy still has a lease on it. How can owners of commercial buildings let them sit for years without a tenant?

I lived in Emerald Forest and ate there frequently for several years . i still eat there from time to time . Obviously 95% is a little hyperbole. And yes most times I was there especially at lunch time Id say empty table space probably outnumbered used space by a good 4-5 to 1 sometimes more. The original point was that it may have been built too big and I completely agree.

Seems like there should be some relationship between your line throughput and the amount of seating. Sucks to get through a long line and not have a table. Maybe their experience at other locations has people sitting on tables longer, but people are out faster here in BCS?
On the other hand, if they could increase the throughput (multiple cutters?) they could keep lines shorter but would need more tables.

Coopers in Katy went out at least a couple of years ago.
It never caught on. I think it is a Mexican restaurant now...

Coopers sucks. Mediocre. Actually bad bbq if I'm honest. But I might eat there sometimes if I have to charge my truck in their parking lot
La Madeline's is not good either, but I understand the excitement for locals getting something new in the area… like when we got Bubba's.

Again, I'm not a developer or in any way qualified to determine viability of a business/location, but a second Academy on 6 seems crazy.
That Academy has got to be a top seller nationwide. Always a ton of people inside. I could see how two could make it.

It's been posted on here. Not sure 2 Academies, an REI, and Bass make it right now. Maybe 5-10 years down the road yes.

Went to try them today and it was very good! We got there around 10:45 and got to talk to the owner (Mitch) for a few minutes. Super nice guy. They have been catering for about 3 years. His dad, Jim was helping out and we talked to him also. Says right now they will be open Thurs-Fri so it doesn't interfere with their catering business.
I had the trinity, brisket, pork ribs and jalapeno cheddar sausage (homemade) and one side poblano Mexican street corn. Price was $30. Given prices for eating out, it was a good price.
All the meats were great, good bark on the brisket, good smoke on the ribs and good taste, sausage was well spiced and good.
Street corn was also great. Will definitely be going back. Good to have a choice that competes with 1775.
TLDR: Go get some of this bbq! Great bbq at a good price!!

definitely needed if they want to succeed. I went to Jersey Mike's today around 1:30 for lunch & parking was crowded without them even being open. Even said to my co-worker that I hoped that the dirt they were moving would be a parking lot because they were gonna need it.
I just went and got breakfast tacos at Mi Familia. Hotel McCoy has an electric charging station.
