I remember when InO talked about a potential CS location, they wanted something close to campus. Problem is the location isn't exactly easy to get...in and out.

Mocean Oriental Tea is having their soft opening. This is where Voodoo was. Cool looking space, hopefully they can survive the construction in the area. The Aspire Reserve across the street opening this month will hopefully help.

College Station will be the home of the officer training program for the Space Force until at least 2036. Programs like this and the things going on at RELLIS are under the radar a bit, but really going to contribute to the growth of B-CS.

Texas A&M University and the United States Space Force are working to expand a program that sent Space Force officers, known as Guardians, to College Station for four weeks.

The course, known as the Captain's Leadership Course, was started as a pilot program in January. It is designed to have Guardians come to College Station for four weeks of space and joint military education.

The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents voted unanimously at a special meeting Monday to allow Chancellor Glenn Hegar to enter into an agreement with the Space Force to extend the partnership through 2036.

Back in January, A&M welcomed the first cohort of Guardians from the Space Force during a four-week course on space and military education. There were six cohorts scheduled to take part in this year. Twenty-four Guardians graduated from the first course in February. The goal is to reach up to 60 Guardians taking part in the sixth cohort.


Texas A&M won the right to host the pilot program after its bid of $1.8 million was accepted over an unspecified number of other universities. At the ceremony marking the start of the first cohort in January, Space Force Col. Alison Gonzalez spoke on why A&M was chosen.
"It was a competitive process for [hosting the course] but [Texas A&M] has a world-renowned faculty and legacy. That really was a determining factor, and just the caliber of people in this area," Gonzalez said. "We are just so thankful and blessed to be in this area and thank you so much for the warm hospitality."

Oh great, just what we need. Traffic already sucks big time on University (a lot due to crappy timing on the lights) but add it another apartment complex or two and it will be a nightmare.

And just wait until they start the diverging diamond rebuild on the University drive bridge.

Without most folks knowing you can cut through the Hyatt Place hotel to get to Javi's, I'm not sure how business will be. Might be a good thing. Less crowds checking out the new restaurant.
