the street I highlighted here is Midtown Dr., with the S&W hospital at one end and Lowe's/Tad's at the other. based on the very low res map image on the WTAW page linked above, it looks like the Costco is going to be built in this white area:

Thanks, that would make sense. Appreciate it.

The address listed on the site plan for Costco is 4321 State Highway 6 South. It is directly across 6 from Walk-Ons and Saltgrass.
Corresponds to the map theNetSmith posted, thanks.

Someone posted a shot of the Costco building permit earlier. It runs from 2/2/2022 through 5/22/2022. They plan on opening by the end of May. 12/31/2023 is just the agreement deadline.

I caught the tail end of this story on WTAW last week, so these details might be a little off, but apparently the City of Bryan is transforming the former "Must be Heaven" space downtown into "Billy's Bar & Grill" which will also supply food service to the Palace Theatre?

Again... details might be sketchy on that.

Someone sent me a link a while back when when the Costco news broke. Not sure of the article date. Costco says they go from foundation to opening in 110 days. That is fast. I am not sure how those dates hold up with labor and material shortages.

The Pure Car Wash there near Rock Prairie and Wellborn is to become a Drew's Car Wash, probably with some renovations and improvements.

Must Be Heaven changed to "Sweet Relish" earlier this year, and their website does confirm that the Downtown Bryan location has closed.

The Schulman family's company is taking over management of the Queen and Palace Theaters and remodeling them. The Billy's Bar & Grill concept is in many of their multiplex theaters (named after Bill Schulman).

I see that the BCS Chamber of Commerce is doing a deluxe ribbon cutting this afternoon at what appears to be a nice looking event venue....in Caldwell. I might be thrown off by the whole BCS part, but don't we have enough venues, and other businesses, in BCS that we don't have to go elsewhere to recruit members?

From the Chamber website:
The Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce focuses on issues affecting the cities of Bryan and College Station, as well as Brazos County.

I like the Chamber and their staff, but the Caldwell thing struck me as odd.

Chambers of Commerce are everywhere at the local state and national levels. I did notice the Caldwell Country dealership is a new member. My guess is Caldwell doesn't have its own chamber and the BCS chamber feels members in neighboring small towns benefit both them and us.

Anyway you can always call them and talk about it if it really upsets you. I've found them to be very open and communicative.
I think that, to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled.

I understand what you're saying, but the BCS Chamber is chartered for our cities and Brazos county. I doubt they'd get a buy in from the BCS members to extend the boundaries. Nor would you get a buy in from the Burleson county Chamber based in Caldwell (you would lose your bet), or the Grimes county Chamber, or any other local chambers. Most local areas have one.

I know our guys at the BCS Chamber and they are great. But I've found it's always best to rush to mybcs.com to bring up these types of issues. That way everyone can play.

Coffee Zen, a drive-through coffee shop is being built near Blinn (the 29th Street side), and La Perla Produce/Meat Market is being built at 601 W.J. Bryan Parkway.

When is a fast food -Whataburger- going to open up some where on Hwy. 30. Nothing quick on that side of town!

SmittyK's has a good burger. If you need it to-go or really fast call ahead.

Besides gas stations that's about as close as you are going to get for a while.

That new convenience store over there (I think it's a Shell? It's yellow anyway) has a pretty decent Mexican place in it, I grabbed some lunch tacos there once and sat outside at a table and ate, it was pretty legit. Obviously not the same as a drivethru if that is what you are looking for.

It will happen when it happens. Pretty much everywhere west of Texas Avenue (near the Wellborn corridor) had almost NOTHING there between campus and Rock Prairie until about five years ago, and by that time, the traffic around there had built up to a near-intolerable level.

That's an interesting concept. You pay $5 to become a member of this restaurant club and then you get cheap food at any of their restaurants (though only one will be in College Station - the pizza place). It looks like you don't have to be a member, though. The website says, for example, that a slice of cheese pizza is a dollar for members and $2.95 for non-members. A pizza with all the meats is $3.00 for members and $4.50 for non-members. I'm not sure what I think about this concept.
