Pretty sure the last one is not a Texas snake. Looks like a San Francisco Garter Snake to me... I think 12f has decided you guys are too good at this and is adding difficulty levels.

Ha! Good catch. The rattlesnakes and garter are from California (southern pacific rattlesnakes and San Francisco garter).

Neat! Is that a male and female rattler by chance? Is there any way to tell the sex of snakes other than the proof under the tail?

Adult females are generally much bigger and thicker, but expressing the hemi***** is the only way to tell for sure in most species that I'm aware of.

In some pythons the males have small spurs they use to grab hold of the female while mating.

The biggest one I have caught and officially measured was right at 4.5' and was also in Katy. It had about a 1lb channel cat in it's (likely her) mouth. I have seen a few that we're just as big and maybe one or two that "looked" bigger. I don't think they get much bigger than that but am not the expert.
