First snake of the year. Scurried under some sheets on a shelf in my garage and started shaking his tail to try to scare me away. (Didn't work). Relocated to a better home out in the field.

Caught one wade fishing not too far from there a few years back. Cool snakes!

It's a very cool and distinctive lizard and one of the largest native skinks as well.

Yes that is a Colombian red-tailed boa constrictor and given the snowpocalypse earlier this winter, it is likely a recently escaped pet.

Baby copperhead or Texas brown snake? It was tiny, thought it was a worm at first. Found in DFW
Dekays or Texas Brown would be my guess. Doesn't look like a copperhead pattern, and a copperhead that small would likely have a yellow or green tail.WestTexAg12 said:

It's a brown snake. Baby copperheads don't look anything like a brown snake, but concern for adult brown snakes being baby copperheads is the reason a lot of brown snakes are killed every year.

Thanks for the quick response, thats what I was afraid of. Is that something TPWD should be made aware of? The area it's in has a pretty decent size wetland with ample amounts of food. My shop is only a couple of hundred yards away, wouldn't be a great surprise for one of my guys at 5am walking through the equipment area
