It's actually one of my queen palms. I wrapped the hell out of them and there is still some green on them. Hopefully they turn out alright.

FWIW, here in Arizona there are a lot of rattlesnake varieties. What helps me distinguish the Western Diamondback from say a Mojave rattler is the very high contrast, black and white bands near the rattle on a WD. Some old geezers here in AZ refer to them as coon snakes because of the black and white tail.vander54 said:

First snake of the spring. Amazingly NoT a copperhead. Rat snake still so cool it was easy to grab. Barely resisted.

Yeah, we do get some very vividly marked rat snakes here. Some are more dull, but some are very distinct in coloration.
This one is a great plains ratsnake, as opposed to the Texas ratsnake. I'm betting you have both on the property, which is neat.
Driller found this little guy in the cutting slop. He at least washed him off.

Some reason I was thinking bigger but after you said that and looking again you may be right.
Irving next to one of the channelized creeks.
Not a snake, but saw several of these guys while cleaning out the creek at the bottom of our property. No idea what he is. We're in the Birmingham area.
I'm sure I'll get this wrong cause I'm definitely not a salamander expert, but my guess would be a northern dusky salamander.

ID? This one is escaping me.
I find a lot of Texas brown snakes at my house. Usually under bricks, or in the garden. They're almost always in the 10 to 12-in range. I found this guy in the middle of the back porch this afternoon though. He was huge compared to the others. At least 18 in long. Struck at me several times while I was trying to pick him up which the other ones never do.
Hognose Snake
More than likely a western hognose but I am not real familiar with their morphology. I think Zooguy used to raise them and I am sure one of 12fmane or Badace can elaborate more.
