Based on the recent mention about the border between Mauritania and Senegal being the "worst border crossing" or something to that effect I was googling it a little to learn more and stumbled upon these youtube videos about a vespa rally to from europe to africa that I thought folks in this thread would enjoy.

I would ride the hell out of a scooter thru Africa...My buddy and I have kicked around the idea of trying to do CO to Alaska on scooters or some version of the COBDR on cheap chinese scooters only. Give me all the crap you want, but hooning some ratty scooter around is about as much fun as you can have

It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast...

I said that mostly for the joke. I had a good time cruising around Oahu on a scooter when I was working there. You're right about the slow bike fast thing. My 250 fourstroke dirtbike is slow to me, but on a trail you can keep up with the bigger bikes if you know how to ride it right. Just a whole lot more shifting and winding out. I learned to ride on a torqueless 125 2 smoke though.

Sounds like an adventure, but I might spring for a Honda instead of a Chinese bike.

A real honda would make lots more sense, which is why we are against it. Our plan would be to ride the chinese POS till it grenades, carry a spare rebuild kit and rebuild the engine on the side of the road. With a big bore kit you can get them to 60+mph. Sketchy, but would make it much faster.

Corpus news ran a story about a brother and sister that got out of the military decided to rider the scooters they brought back from Hawaii from (I think) Washington state to corpus. They broke down several times, rebuilt them, had to uhaul them for a while, got them running again, and finally made it 12 miles from their parents house. When they broke down yet again!

i noticed emily changed the name of her Sengal/Gambia album to "Senegambia." I had to look that one up. The Senegambia confederation was dissolved in 1989. Do the locals still refer to it as "Senegambia" or is she just trying to be cutesy with her titles?
