before even getting into the awful plan, the thing i first notices was it took him 22 months to do his 50k mile journey through the americas. he is guestimating this journey to be 80k miles, and budgeted himself and extra 2 months... based on the speed that couple did through the DRC (39 days to travel 3,000 km) it should take him about 4.5 years assuming he is close onthe distance and he can do the same average speed as them. and they didn't cross any borders.... just another point of probably failure in his "plan" to add to the pile

Depends where he's at. After watching that Liberia documentary I'd say likely eaten by a human if he makes it into that country.
I love that he was lost in France because his GPS acted up. I can't wait to see what happens in Africa where I'm sure the maps are amazing...

He'll be fine. He can just open up Apple Maps and ask Siri which way he should go.
I'll admit, the first time I drove into France I was confused as hell too, compared to Germany. I'm pretty sure I drove straight into little baghdad though. I was too cheap to buy Euro GPS maps. I can't imagine circumnavigating Africa on good intentions.
I'm sure the seven eleven in Algeria will have a great, completely updated GPS unit for the entire continent of Africa.

Although it's hard, I'm trying not to get too excited about following this guy's trek. The consensus is that he will not complete the journey with a high probability of not leaving that continent alive. Given that, I'm afraid his blog will just stop one day, leaving everyone hanging, only to speculate his demise.

Just so that I am clear...An Australian plans to drive a U.S. made Italian gasoline SUV that is registered in Canada around the perimeter of Africa without any money. And he will cook most of his meals himself but will eat out sometimes to get an idea of the local cuisine (without getting sick)?

Deciding to cut your trip short because the credit (in a cash only society) ran out doesn't do you one bit of good when you're months (assuming he makes it that long) from any real civilization. So he manages to somehow not die and hides out in Nigeria and sets up a GoFundMe while hiding in an embassy? I could be wrong, but the local port probably doesn't take PayPal...
The longer he is an England, the less likely I think it is that this whole thing happens at all
