Honestly, Cameroon is fairly safe, all things considered. Spent a lot of time in Douala and Limbe and never really felt threatened.
I do wonder if he tried navigating the pothole in town, though. He hasn't tried too much off the road yet so I kind of doubt it.
Gabon will be uneventful but cannot wait for the Congo!

I'm not clicking on that, but I'm assuming that by "touching" the chimp he would be giving it AIDS and it would die a slow auto-immune disease riddled death.

I'm curious about Angola. Not that it is particularly unsafe, but because getting a visa to enter Angola is a tremendous task.

Getting a visa is a pain in the ass. We have had rigs down there so mine have always been through work. We have had to be "invited" and they still hassle you. On leaving one time, they were ready to throw me in jail because I used a black pen filling out some exit documentation and did not use a blue pen. A local business man in line came up and helped me out. The bars of soap and hotel bottles of shampoo I had given the immigration guy didn't seem to do their trick that time.

To be fair,

A. He's probably made it farther than most of us thought he would at the onset.

B. Without looking - I think this thread predicted by page 3 that using gasoline was a terrible decision and exactly THIS would happen.
