Happy Mother's Day fellas, no BBQ stops today for most of us, but hopefully you're cooking BBQ at home at least and celebrating the Moms in your life.
The brisket is solid. They also have great turkey and barbacoa.
I ate at Roegels in Katy last week for the first time. It was outstanding! I had the Brisket, Sausage, and pork belly, along with the potato salad, and coleslaw. I'll definitely be hitting that place up again.
Roegels is great the couple of times I've been. Should have made the list in my opinion.

went to panther city last Friday 5/12 and got a couple slices of fatty, a couple pork ribs, mac & cheese, and boracho beans. Everything was excellent except for the ribs. Very tough and definitely not falling off the bone. Will give them another chance
They made the last one... leaving them out by TM was a crime against BBQ. Oh, and Russell and Misty are great peeps...

They are always good. Haven't been to the new location yet, but at the original you can get great BBQ without having to wait in a huge line.

Agreed. I may be biased but I think they're food is terrific. And I've known him since it sucked (Bakers)! He really stepped up his game over the last decade. And he was on of the first people in Houston to offer off-the-main-menu specials. Hell, his pastrami brisket is still one of my favorite dishes of any restaurant in town. When Texas Monthly said they weren't going to weigh brisket as heavy in the ratings and give more credit to creativity, I thought Russell would be top 50 for sure. But seriously, what the ****? It was a joke to leave them out and then hype up Truth for their boudain (not that it isn't good, Russell was just doing it better and for longer).
Any recommendations in Amarillo today? I'm not going to have time to make it down to Evie Mae's before they close this afternoon.
I think it's pretty universally accepted both on this thread and in the TX BBQ community as a whole that Roegel's was the biggest snub with the last list, which really ought to tell you something. Looking forward to having them at Troubador fest Saturday!

Ended up at Tyler's BBQ here in Amarillo since I saw they made the list in 2017. Brisket is not elite level, but it's very good. Better than a handful of others who made the Top 50. Turkey is real good. Sides are just ok; not bad.

Meat church is doing lamb gyro, Roegels is doing brisket snack sticks, Brothertons has a carne guisada sausage and also a cowboy caviar sausage they're making.
Hurtado posted a video of meat they're making for the event that I couldn't quite figure out, maybe beef cheeks for some barbacoa? That's all ones I've seen so far.
