Jace, Grahovac, and Schott did not all magically become .230 hitters over the off season. There is too much talent for there not to be a reversion to the mean in the positive direction, not to mention Sorrell coming back.

Weekend starting pitching has exceeded expectations so far. (32 IP, 1.13 ERA)

The biggest unknown coming into the season was relief pitching and there isn't enough data to know anything one way or the other yet. This team will go as far as the bullpen can take it.

Unknowns are part of every new season in every sport in college, and we're all used to dealing with those surprises. I think what has people alarmed is the fact that what should be the known positives for this team are also acting like surprises. The kind of surprise where you forgot to bring in a grocery bag with ice cream in it.

No team is so talented that it will always overcome those games when all phases of play are off even against ****ty teams. Even the '27 Yankees dropped games to cellar dwellers.

I believe it is entirely possible for this team to win the CWS. It is very talented but it does have some big shoes to fill and a coaching situation that is hardly common for the consensus preseason #1.

More than 10% of the regular season is already gone. There is time to figure it out, but our margin for error is shrinking quickly. I'm not a doom and gloom guy, I'm not saying we hired the wrong head coach, I'm not saying the season is over.

What I am saying is that adjustments must come quickly if we hope to be a high national seed and make a good post-season run. Maybe a lineup shake up tomorrow vs. the Bobcats will help, maybe we need to sacrifice a live chicken. Who knows...but I trust the fellas and the coaches to put the puzzle pieces together as best they can.

You might want to review our '22 season. It was well into the season before anyone thought the Aggies might even make the field of 64 much less a high national seed.

If you are talking about the polls voting us number one, no, that's not an unrealistic expectation for this team. We've got almost all our contributors back from the title runner up, and we've added some really nice pieces to boot. The biggest question mark on the team is whether we can find a relief pitcher (or combination of relief pitchers) that will close games as well as we did last year. Way to early to say about that.

If you are talking about the expectation of folks who don't follow college baseball and think that the number one team should never lose a game to lesser competition, then, yes, their expectation were not realistic, but I would attribute that to simple ignorance rather than expectations created by the rankings.

Agreed - the adjustments can definitely be made. I think it's a bit of a bigger challenge having a first-time HC, but certainly not impossible.

Pretty much everyone besides the starting pitchers have played below expectations (especially their own expectations). A few players well below expectations. I'm confident this will change, and the team will find their groove eventually. We're 6 games into a very long season, and we've had seasons that started much worse that ended up in the Supers or Omaha. Maybe a loss yesterday will be a low key wake up call.

I'm not sure I agree there. I fully believe there are going to be growing pains, especially with the coaching change, but there is also a reason this team was a unanimous #1 to start the season. There absolutely should be expectations for them to win it all. Will it happen? Probably not, but thats sports. Its insanely hard to win a title in anything.

I think we'll have a good season, but it's too early to know for sure.

The 2009 team started the season ranked no. 1 and didn't make it out of a regional. The 2022 team lost a series to Penn in the second weekend of the season and went to Omaha.

The talent this team has makes it pretty likely that it's going to have a really good season, barring injuries. But it's baseball.
