Buddy has one on camera from our deer camp on Navasot appx 3-4 weeks ago. 4 footer. They are out there, but I've never seen one.TarponChaser said:
Man, I can't even begin to count how much time I spent tromping all over the woods in the Navasota bottoms growing up and through my time at A&M and never once did I see a timber rattler. Lots of water moccasins and copperheads and coral snakes but never a timber. I didn't even think they got that far west.
Damn. Was really conflicted on this one. Just enough of the pattern and triangular looking head to get a death sentence knowing that it would scare my wife to death in the flower beds / plants.vander54 said:

They are in every creek bottom in Victoria and Jackson Counties. Just go to a public water crossing and walk down a creek bed for a while and you will almost undoubtedly see one.

Yellow or sometimes black and yellow Garden spider
They are incredibly common and a lot of fun to throw grasshoppers or other spiders to and watch them work.
sounds like brazos bend state park. There are tons there and very fascinating to look at.htxag09 said:
I don't carry my phone when running so couldn't take a picture. But last week I was running on a roughly 8' wide crushed granite trail going through trees. One of these guys, about the size of a softball, had a web from one side of the trail to the other and was just chilling right above the middle of the trail, about 10' in the air. Was pretty neat looking.

Funny that there are enough pics of rat snakes in predicaments for there to be an entire group about it.
