Did you see both of those on one walk? I'd move. I have enough frustration with copperheads and coral snakes. I don't want to add cotton mouths to the list!

Sent by a friend who shoots first and asks questions later. Water snake, I know, but not sure on exact type. PBWS?

It's Nerodia erythrogaster. I think most would call that one a PBWS.

In San Antonio Inwood neighborhood. Saw it on the driveway. When it noticed we saw it, it scurried to hide under the hose and leaves on the side of the house.

Meant to ask this on the last Coral sighting....Do they "strike" like other snakes? I heard once that they have to "gnaw" on you....

p-town, I'm in your neighborhood...we saw one about a year ago on a walk...it scurried into some ground cover.

Also had a friend find one in his pool skimmer a couple of years ago.

They probably do strike to some degree, even if defensively. What whoever said that was probably talking about is the mistaken belief that they do not have the ability to inject venom through fangs like the pit vipers. They do. But they have a very small mouth, and can't easily bite a human unexpectedly. Most coral snake bites occur on the hand or fingers because somebody picked them up.

I relocated a coral a couple of years ago. He was not a happy camper. He never struck the shovel but he kept flipping over and over trying to get away.

Awesome. I'm a potential neighbor. We were looking at houses that day. Another homeowner was outside and said they saw one a few weeks ago at their house. I was surprised by the number of sightings.

No snakes yet, but came across this little fellow today. Northern Minnesota.

Cool. I need to post an updated pic of Fred II, my baby common snapping turtle.

Been mostly finding rat snakes lately, but did capture a nice baby copperhead yesterday.

Just outside Van Horn. The weird thing is I usually start seeing them pretty often much earlier. Haven't seen as many lately. I was trying to get a better pic but when they're already bowed up I just keep my distance.

Yep not a snek. But a creature that scares as many humans and sneks do.

I will admit to herding her out of the garage with a broom. Not afraid of snakes, but spiders, even large controllable ones like this are not my favorite.

Saw my first snake today. Hard to get a good pic, he was very quick.

It's a whiptail lizard species. Probably checkered whiptail, but there are a lot of species and several look similar.

Possibly, they all look very similar to me. I bet 12f could give you a more definitive answer.
