Speckled King snake. He was skirting off so i had to grab his tail to slow him down. He got all kinds of dramatic after that rolling around and acting like he was dying. It was pretty funny other than him musking on my hand

Was hammering some bluegill beds on local pond and saw a half dozen or so water snakes (northern) swimming. Wouldn't get close enough to get a good pic.

Did get a few nice bluegill though:

Unfortunately I got to this fella too late. He had been run over on Greens Prairie Rd where the culvert is at the end of the Castlegate II sidewalk. I did toss him in the creek/brush for proper burial.

I need to start carrying something to take pictures with when I run. Saw 8 snakes today in 30 minutes. Brown, diamondback water, yellow belly, grass, and garter. Normally I see a rat snake or two but not today

I won't lie, this is a small reason I run with my phone. But I normally see snake food (bunnies) not snakes.

Chicken house is good for a couple of rat snakes a week... a 5 footer in there today. These are when I let her? go. They're pretty was to catch. Wave hand on one side, grab just behind head with other.

I did know it was a millipede, but then did the research on the west Texas millipede. I thought I had a pretty good find and then the rains came that night. Driving into the park, they were crossing the road by the hundreds and we saw them all over the place when hiking. Driving around the park was like millipede slalom. Still cool though.

In Big Bend I came around a curve in a trail and saw what I'm guessing was a corn snake, he was way to fast to react before I could get my camera out, but looked pretty similar to this but maybe a little more washed out. Maybe a three footer, but do they range this far over? Will also follow with what I think is a checkered garter, he was in a tiny pool of water near the end of Window Trail hike.
