Do we know how many countries he's planning to visit in the two years?

Because it seems like spending 1+ months in one of the easiest nations to traverse in his Jeep. Some countries may legitimately take 1+ month to cross and there are no olives or rugs to buy along the way.

It only took the long way down guys three months to ride from Scotland to South Africa. If he has two years, I don't blame him for spending some time in one of the most civilized countries in Africa before he heads straight into the lion's den. Sucks for us looking for excitement, but makes sense for him.

It did that to me with a period the other day when I ended a sentence with a four letter word for poop. I had to edit and put a space in so that the appropriate curse word would be noted by readers.

Those roadside SIM card vendors will see him coming from a mile away, with that POS decal covered jeep they are gonna assume he has some cash.

And for those who haven't experienced it, you would be surprised where you can get cell service. Villages with no running water or electricity often have coverage. Crazy. They charge their phones by hooking up to the government supplied tractor.

The entire continent is wheels off, yet beautiful, fascinating and scary as hell.

man, every day I come to this thread hoping against hope that SOMETHING has happened. not necessarily even hoping for his demise (but not necessarily hoping against it...). I just want there to be SOMETHING GOING ON on this trip. I feel like I'm watching Phantom Menace for the first time.

Actually cell service is pretty good in most of Africa. The technology skipped land lines. I've got a sat phone, but very rarely carry it.
