So, what odd jobs does this soft westerner think he's going to be able to land in Africa? He's competing against poor folks that will work twice as hard for less than half the money.

That being said, I think now that Chrysler is aware of it, they could very well contribute parts/money/etc. to his cause under the table to help him "miraculously" make it until he cuts his trip short of being murdered.
I think it was initially a stunt to try to drum up some sponsors to help him pay for his trip. Sponsors don't generally like to have their logos prominently featured in buttrape or snuff videos, so nobody has stepped up. Now, he has boasted so much about his plans and what he will do, he can't back out without at least setting foot in Africa. He is so far in debt, his only hope is to at least make part of the trip, and then get paid for a book or mag articles about it. Hopefully he just packs it in and goes back to obscurity satisfied that his 15 mins of fame were only mildly humiliating. I suspect that if he tries to extend his fame by going through with this, the next 15 mins of fame will be excruciatingly painful for him.

The more and more this thread goes on, the less I am convinced that this guy never even steps foot on the continent of Africa.

The last facebook video he posted was after he drove from London through France and Spain to Africa. That is how we know he got lost using his GPS in France.

Chrysler/Jeep just had a big facebook push featuring this guy and his story.
I think the cathartic SEE WE TOLD YOU SO that everyone wants to see is less and less likely as he gets corporate backing.

It reminds me of the random souvenir guy in the thread from the couple that went through the Congo. It was so odd because no one travels there but they did end up buying a chess set from him.

Every time I see this in the watchlist I get excited -- then I see its only 1 or 2 responses and I figure not much has happened, just a check to see if he's alive. I can't wait for the day it says 56 new responses
I guess I haven't been paying attention to them before, but every time I see a Jeep "4x4ever" commercial now, I giggle a little bit thanks to this thread.
He posted about his jeep build today with YouTube videos. No trip update yet.

Having American companies give him more publicity isn't exactly good for his security. Making him even more of a target in a place where lots of folks hate Americans.
Dude is probably already lost, took a left and ended up in Italy.
He admitted getting lost in France. I wonder if he ever made it out? Of course France is much more difficult to navigate than remote parts of Africa.
If someone suggested I drive the coast of Africa, I'd do the best to get lost in France, too...

We are doing great. Language studies going well, could go better. I preached for the first time last Sunday and no one threw anything at me, so happy about that. We're meeting a group from Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church at South Luangwa N.P. early next week, and I'll try to post animal pics after. Hope we'll see some cats this time.
