Question: After watching the Red Wedding episode, why was the guy getting married relieved that his bride was not fugly? I thought he got to chose his bride. Was she not among the 8-10 fuglies Rob was apologizing too?

The fuglies were just all the maiden Frey children other than Roslin. It was part of the terms that Edmure could not pick, which is why he was so upset over the idea.

That's why I got upset when a reader pointed out about Tywin's letter writing and asking what was in those letters. Tywin planned it all along. If you think back the signs were everywhere. It was just too outrageous to consider and thus that's why it is such a shock.

The gloves are off now. No one is safe.

Questions: Did Tywin plan this after Robb met with Frey's men and agreed to the wedding terms?

Why would Frey need Tywin's push to get revenge on Robb?

What do you think were the sequence of events leading to the betrayal, including Lord Bolton's involvement with Jaime and the betrayal. Shouldnt Tywin have known Jaime was free and on his way back?

Tywin has probably been speaking to the boltons for a while, but I think Tywin's interaction with the freys started the moment he found out Robb married talisa.

Here is the irony, Robb chose to go to the Twins (Frey). Had he taken any other course of action, he would still be alive.

I think all you people crying need to get over it, Robb wasn't cunning enough to be king.

I agree that Frey was not happy with Robb and probably wanted to exact revenge. However, he probably did not devise the plan to do this until being prompted/ok'd by Tywin.

The whole bread and salt ceremony when they arrived at the Twins basically symbolized Frey welcoming them to his home and a mutual agreement to not harm one another. If Frey was going to break this agreement, he had better have backing/understanding from some powerful friends, as otherwise his entire family would have been outcasts and not trusted ever again by any other family in Westeros. This would be similar to granting safe passage across battle lines for an enemy under the white flag of truce and then cutting them down when they arrive at your camp/base. No enemy would ever trust any offer/assurance from you ever again.

Of course, Frey does not seem to give a s*** about anything other than himself and his pleasure, so he may have done this on his own, as he does not care what happens to his family or castle after he is gone.

Too much of a mama's boy?

Just watched the episode again. Still find it brutal and devastating. Haven't read the books and avoid spoilers in articles, etc, but right now want to go to the spoiler's thread and learn everything.

Just hope the author has his ending completed in his mind when he completes his book and includes a measure of revenge that will satisfy those who support the "good guys".

I posted this in the other thread, but I have no problem with the Freys and Boltons getting away with it. (This isnt a spoiler because everyone's future is uncertain).

The reason I want them to live is because the premise of the series is to give a gritty, realistic look at politics and struggle. In real life, the villains seldom get justice. How many genocidal dictators, even those deposed, died of natural causes in their mansions. Pol Pot lived in house arrest after killing 3M people.

To demand GRRM bring justice to characters simply because you have been brainwashed into "happily ever after" kinda cuts GOTs off at the knees.

Screw that. I don't need a dissertation on karma or moral absolutes based in a world where dragons breastfeed from blonde women. I want some measure of satisfaction out of this damn story. I want somebody worth giving a damn about to emerge victorious.

Indifferent to see Rob killed

Give me a spin off with The Hound and Tyrion traveling the country whoering and drinking while solving mysteries and you have a fan for life.

Can it not be both?

If Dany wins the throne but has to ally with the Boltons, or Tyrion with the Freys, the assoles still get away with it...

I dont understand why on earth you even hate the Freys, they were wronged. They were promised a queen, and they got left with a dullard lord. Its like if the Tywin reneged on the Joffrey and Margery wedding and instead put Lancel (Cersei's fcck cousin) as Margery's groom. The Tyrells would explode.

It becomes somewhat of a spoiler because now since we know from your billion posts that you've read the books, we know that any kind of justice served to the Freys or Boltons isn't going to happen until way in the future, if at all.

History teaches that evil has usually lost out in the end. May take a long time sometimes, but it happens.

hayden, this whole series is about people wronging each other. We still havent seen "justice" to those that pushed Bran out the window, or chopped Ned's head, or the person who killed Jon Arryn (an honorable man) from S1E1.

If you are looking for a story that wraps up into a pretty little bow, go watch Scrubs. But you need to accept that bad people get away with it, hell thats 98% of the reason people watch Breaking Bad.

As long as Bron joins them. Arya could be a good pain in the butt sidekick during the travels.

It'd be great for Frey to die the way Tyrion intended to, in his own bed, of old age, with a belly full of wine and a girls mouth around his cock.

Jaime's shriveled right hand might beg to differ.

One could also argue that Tywin, who lives for a legacy, may be all powerful right now, but is left with 3 children who hate him or is hated by him.

I haven't read the books, but since they haven't been completed, no one really knows what justice, if any, will be meted out.

That's not my point. Since you've made it clear (countless times) that you've read the books, and say that we don't know if the Frey's or Bolton's will receive justice (because it is still uncertain), then once can easily assume that both of those characters are safe for the foreseeable future -- which is a spoiler since anyone who hadn't read the novels would have no idea either way.

This was his last in a very long line of idiotic mistakes.

I think a lot of people were rooting for him to win because he's Ned Stark's son, and Joffrey is a d-bag of the highest order. But, Robb was incredibly foolish, naive, and arrogant... and if you haven't noticed, Joffrey ain't king of
**** outside of his own bedroom.

Betraying a lord that had done you a massive favor in exchange for a promise of his daughter being a queen? Letting Mommy get away with releasing the single prisoner of any consequence he had? Taking the head off of a bannerman (and a relative) and causing all of his people to abandon him in the middle of a war that is at a standstill?

Robb had this coming, and he was too stupid and arrogant to realize it.

Rooting for Walter in Breaking bad does not equal the type of crap Game of Thrones does. The show sets up WW to be a protagonist in BB. Game of Thrones is systematically eliminating everyone you could possibly care about. If Arya or Dany die, I am out... I have to have some sort of attachment to characters in a show to keep watching, and that can't happen if they are all dead.

All the Freys, Boltons, and Lannisters are dead as of the season finale. :P

tv

Have you ever seen the interviews with the cast or creator of BB, they admit all their characters are pieces of shtt. Just because you like one of them, doesnt mean they are good guys. WW is a murderer, he has killed. How many kids' lives has he been responsible for? Think about that. Yet he marches on.

Good try.
SuperAg05

I'm just saying...the only character that seems to have damn near everything going his way is Tywin. And even HE has to deal with a petulant King Joffrey...

I suppose you could say that Littlefinger is probably fairly happy with how things are going as well..

And all they did was cripple Bran. So I would say that Jaime losing his sword hand is about as close to eye for an eye as you can get, considering what a renowned swordsman he was...

A lot of viewers will switch to the side that tunes in hoping the episode is finally the one where the jerks finally pay for what they did.
