I think there are too many story lines. I'd be happy if they killed off about half the characters and devoted more time to the ones I find more interesting. I really like Peter Dinklage; the storyline between him & his *****y sister & and their dad (who I find hilarious in an overbearing patriarch sort of way); Joffrey & his hot manipulative wife-to-be; and the fat dorky guy out in the snow with the crying baby and baby momma who got knocked up by her dad.
The creepy bald nutless guy is growing on me along with the relationship between the badass bodyguard chick and the kingslayer. The 2 best storylines are Arya and the dragon queen by far. I'm madly in love with the dragon queen and have decided that she's the hottest character in the history of television.
All other stories need to step it up, because I really couldn't care less about any of them. Especially the greyjoy guy and the red witch with the smoke monster coming out of her cooch. Those 2 storylines just boor me to tears, and the sooner those characters get killed off the better.
The crippled kid's storyline seems to have potential, but he needs to start honing that skill before I forget about him all together. John Snow's story has the chance of being salvaged by the redheaded hottie, but I mostly just find him uninteresting. I know there are lots of other storylines that I'm forgetting...and I guess that's the point I'm trying to make. They're forgettable.
I also struggle to remember names because all their names are so weird...so I've just given them all a nickname that I can more easily remember. There are about 10 men between the ages of 45 and 60 with a beard that I simply cannot tell apart. I can only tell them apart by who they're talking to and what they're talking about. The dragon lady's 2 bodyguards, the dwarf's body guard, the dwarf's dad, the pathetic guy trying to hook up with the red queen w/ the smoke coming out of her cooch, and pretty much everyone Arya's run into during her trek (other than the Hound) all look the same. At least one of those guys is missing an eye, so I guess that helps a little.
Plus, a new 50 yr old guy with a beard is introduced every episode, so I spend the whole time trying to figure out which one he is only to realize after reading a breakdown of the show online after the fact that he's new.
I find myself having to pause the show about 100 times in each episode to go look up who the guy on screen is and how he relates to everyone. It's very tiresome.
With that said, I absolutely love this show...or at least about 80% of it. The other 20% I don't really understand at all.
