Did I hear this correctly? Ser Loras, talking to Sansa, describes some attractive French sleeves???

Ya I rewound twice on that one. Opps by the writers, what a stupid mistake.

Fringed sleeves. Had captions on.

Pretty easy to tell he said fringe or fringed.

Am I the only one that prefers Melisandre with her clothes on?

I really thought the Grandmother was going to exert more leverage during the marriage discussion.

Was anyone else under the impression that The Wall was more of a plateau? I suppose the map in the opening credits made it seem that way to me. I was thinking everything south of the wall was basically 0ft above sea level and everything north of the wall was 700ft above sea level.

I was a pretty damned confused as to how the wildlings were scaling the wall while approaching from the north. Then they get to the top and see the vast drop off on either side, come to realize the wall is an actual solitary non-naturally supported wall. Basically Great Wall of China x 100.

Is the above description correct? Anyone else just realize this?

Good question. I am also confused.

Grandmother's saying "sword swallower" was hilarious. Didn't she also say "bugger"?

That would be tough for the Night's Watch to defend.

Littlefinger's "Chaos is a Ladder" speech was epic.

Show was rolling along until the scene between Varys and Littlefinger and just took off.

Whoever is in charge of this show know how to end an episode.

Reminds me of that old Fedex commericial - "We don't get French benefits?"

So, who was Sansa watching sail away? I guessed I missed that.

Littlefingers ship that she was "supposed" to be on.

What Stive said. His emblem was on one of the sails.

cs09, it was a long time ago, but they showed the wall from the north when jon snow first arrived with his uncle back in the first season.

now im just wondering how they are going to get down.
AgFB
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The giant whole in the wall that they could walk through kind of explained it for me.

Looking back at the map in the intro, if you are looking closely, you can see where north of the wall there is a dropoff. However, just casually watching the map it had always looked like a plateau to me.

I suppose I just saw it like that and ran with it. The idea of a wild ice land at 700ft elevation seemed to make sense. Made the wilderness seem further away than just on the other side of the wall. My idea of the wall was never truly tested in the show until tonight's episode(don't remember Jon and his uncle in season 1 as mentioned above).

And also as mentioned above, I too thought it would be tough defend, but then again a 700 ft descent is no cake walk either. As far as the pathway in the wall, I never thought of it as a pathway I suppose. Since i already had the plateau idea in my head i rationalized it as more of a shelter built into the wall that was reasonably expansive with one entrance and exit.

At least it sounds like I wasn't alone in this whole assumption. But damn now that I know it's a single structure, that's a pretty big ****ing wall

there was also the scene where dany had the vision of being north of the wall in season 2, when she went to the warlocks' tower

Relax dude, they aren't The Walking Dead writers, you just misheard the line.

I'm going to have to start watching these with closed captions on, I swear a lot of the lines are mumbled.

Glad Sam's screen-time was limited to the opening scene.

Theon's torture scene was brutal and did a great job of translating that pain to the audience.

I loved the wall climbing scenes. Lots of tension with Ygritte and Snow being cut loose, even though you knew they were going to make it out somehow. I thought Snow would surely attack the Warg as soon as they got to the top. That was intense and the last shot of the show was epic.

I was expecting a major accomplishment banging at the the top of the wall.

No offense to the guys that didn't realize that the "wall" is actually a "wall", but that confuses me that it was thought to be something else. Throughout the first season they showed tons of images that made it clear it was what it was. Jon snow standing at the top and looking over the are North of the wall while on guard duty. The dwarf pissin*g off the wall. Going into the tunnel and out of the tunnel on each side, etc. Heck, the first scene of the entire series/show (went back and checked) has those 3 guys riding out of the tunnel on the north side (before they go have the run in with the ice zombie thingy) and it shows the entire wall from the north side and just how large and ominous it is.

The Wall being an actual wall obviously makes a lot of sense now.

As I said my first and only idea of the wall was it being a plateau, determined within the first 20 seconds of watching my first episode. Edit* Based exactly off the gif above. Doesn't that **** look like a plateau?

In my mind this was a fact so it was easy to twist scenes around to cement that fact, for example I just figured Tyrion was pissing while facing south. This coupled with(as mentioned above) not clearly understanding probably a third of the dialogue due to mumbling and accents, led me to keep believing the wall to be a plateau until this week's episode.

Also I did not start watching the shows from S1E1. I started around S2E6, just catching a rerun on HBO one day. I finished S2 then went back to watch S1-S2E5. With the plateau idea in my head from the start I never really challenged that idea, even when watching S1.

Just a simple case of my mind building support of a flawed premise over several months. Oh and as mentioned earlier, watching with captions this week made the episode so much easier to follow.

The whole point of him talking about the wedding was to be funny and show how gay Loras is because most guys don't even know what a French or fringe sleeve is (i sure as hell don't), so it cracks me up that some of you -guys- are *****ing about him not calling it the right thing.

They weren't saying he called it the wrong type of sleeve, they were noting we are in Westoros in the Realm and the country France does not exist.

Theon's Torturer - - - the unseen hornblowler from the end of season 2?

@CS09.....fair enough. If you didn't start until midway through last season then it would make sense how you're perspective on it might be skewed.

I'm sure red beard has a plan. Hot wildling said he had climbed it 50 times.

Thought it was great writing to put in the part where hot wildling told Snow to not betray her. Adds another dilemma to the upcoming battle.

"You will make kings rise and fall"

So what's in store for Gandry? Melisandre's new boy toy with king's blood? More smoke ninjas and birthing scenes?

"Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes you'll shut forever"

What does Melisandre mean when she says this to Arya? Arya isn't the youngest Stark so does this mean she'll be the last surviving Stark at some point?

So is the torturer really a Karstark or was he not lying about that? If he is a Karstark does he know Robb killed his pops?
