What is the process for replacing a Co Judge removed from office? Council appointed member? Off year election?
Or is there a Judge pro tem currently on council that would step in (like city council/mayor)?

Yep. Looking likely that we will be leaving Harris County to go live somewhere else sooner than later. Most of the dem judges won too...so nothing is going to change on crime/bonds.Nitro Power said:
So cable lost too? We are fooked in Harris County. Taxes and spending are about to go through the roof.
I would love to see them make violated bond forfeiture mandatory and put the forfeited funds towards a fund administered by the state specifically for the victims of crimes committed by people who were out on bond. Right now, with the bondsmen not having to forfeit the value of the bond, there is no incentive for them to charge much for the perps. They make lots of money and they turn around and give some of it to the dems as campaign donations to keep the party rolling. If the state took over that role and there was no money train for the bondsmen, and they knew they would be on the hook for the full bond, they would be less inclined to offer bonds to repeat offenders.MAROON said:

It won't matter, most of these activist judges think they are above the law and can change the law at a whim.MAROON said:

to include:
- mandatory bail minimums based on the charge
-mandatory no bail for those with previous charges and already out on bail
-minimum cash required to be paid on bonds (like 10% minimum or more)
- bonding companies pay the bond if the defendant doesn't show for trial - not an option that the judge can waive this.
Council will appoint a new Judge to serve as interim until the next election cycle. That's how Emmit was put into the position.Mose Schrute said:T Durden said:

I thought that was the whole point of bail bonds? Do they waive it often?MAROON said:

Yes. In Harris County, they have been waiving the forfeiture of the bond to the court in all cases. To my knowledge, they have collected zero dollars for violated bonds since at least 2020 and maybe before that.drumboy said:I thought that was the whole point of bail bonds? I really can't believe this happened. So we can excuse / blame the idiot straight ticket voters for getting her elected because of Beto had all the River Oaks housewives wet and eager to virtue signal. Fine. But I thought we were all shocked (including the wet RO wives who voted against their own pocketbooks) at what the idiots had done -- snuck an inexperienced teenage airhead into office running a multi-billion dollar county -- and would rectify the mistake once we got the chance. Then she showed time and again that she was the wrong person for the job, the county and intelligent thought through riots, COVID foot stamping, masks, corruption, etc. We had to eat the sheet sandwich, but we all could look at the calendar and see the expiration date on the idiot voters' mistake. Then a real candidate with real ideas (other than "Keep HCo Woke") was there to take over, so all is good. I didn't think the County was that far gone and dumb to repeat the mistake. I will never underestimate the populace again.

Statistics do say that 50% of the population is dumber than the top half.CDUB98 said:Texan_Aggie said:

Considering the increase in crime, her poor handling of almost everything, appointing cronies, 3 staffers under indictment, and herself being looked at, it should have been a slam dunk ouster. More than anything, it shows just how stupid half the county voters are.

This is what happens after generations of bein institutionalized on the democrat plantation. Most are terrified of the thought of thinking for themselves or not relying on a government cheese handout.CDUB98 said:Texan_Aggie said:
