Well that was incredible.
I wasn't expecting a new trailer until August, but this makes sense...
Brilliant move by WB and Legendary to release this DUNE: PART TWO trailer now. Two months is a short window between trailers, but goddamn — *this* is going to move the needle for general audiences who are flocking to MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, OPPENHEIMER and BARBIE in the next weeks.

The biggest thing still I revealed after this trailer is Alia. It will be crucial for Denis to nail her characterization if he is in fact intent on adapting Dune: Messiah after this.
I think my favorite part of this trailer is Chani experiencing Paul's vision from the first movie.

I have to agree, this is visually completely satisfying. Looking forward to seeing Giedi Prime in the arena scene.
Looking over the cast I see Margot Fenring has been cast but no announcement on Count Fenring yet. However Tim Blake Nelson has been cast in an undisclosed role, so it would be awesome if is Fenring.
Aside from the visuals, there is a steep drop off in things to be excited about.

Why is Dune ripping off I Am Legend?

- Timothy Chalmet's dialogue and voice = nails on a chalkboard
- Feyd, the baron and Rabban all being bald albinos is super cringe and blatant lets-make-the-white-guys-be-evil. Horrible application of an overused trope.
- But then the Fremen fit into the "middle eastern terrorist" trope too.
On the upside:
- Looking forward to Stilgar and Jessica
- Liet was a terrible character and no more of her (unless flashbacks)
- Giedi Prime (mentioned above)
- More Sardaukar/Fremen battles
Ambivalent:
- Worm riding in the trailer - Seems like a big shiny object to detract from the obvious flaws in this movie
- Alia - So many things have been done wrong in this movie, no reason to get hopes up for character
- Not sure I buy Christopher Walken as the emperor. That will be a wait-and-see judgment for me.
- Irulan - meh

Is the reason he appears to be black and white have something to do with the star the planet orbits around?
The white is some kind of makeup. There other shots in the trailer of Butler (and of Lea Seydoux in the first trailer) where they have normal colored skin as well.

They all paint themselves white for whatever reason/occasion. Again, there's a shot of Lea Seydoux arriving at the arena in the first trailer and she's painted white, but then they show her again, not at the arena, and she has normal colored skin. Same with Austin Butler. Painted white at the arena, normal color skin elsewhere.
I think it's both. They are painted white but the area is also monochromatic, either because of the planet they're on or maybe it's a flashback in the movie.
Yes. If that's Geidi Prime (home world of the Harkonnen), we've seen it before, and the structures we saw were all black. The only shots we saw were at night, though. So I'm assuming this is the same planet in the daylight, just contrasted against the spectators all painted white.
You should read the 1st half of the book before the 2nd movie comes out
