And let's admit it....those of us who loved it probably got choked up from the nostalgia a time or two....

The way it ended for me....from darts Vader going off to "hope".....man I was holding it in

I thought it was cool that they used one of the corvettes basically as a kamikaze into the star destroyer as well. I only assume it was destroyed when that tangled mass plowed through the shield generator

Scotty was probably able to beam them all off the ship in time.

Stormtroopers can actually competently engage in combat. They weren't disabled with a light tap to their armor.

Red 5 reference.....

I remember during the space fight scene, there was a scene where rebels were calling out to Red 5....which was Luke's callsign in ANH.

One scene in particular if I remember correctly there were multiple rebels calling to this callsign for assistance and no one was coming....

Think they meant to do this to foreshadow the helplessness of their situation and they were all pretty much going to die?

Who else remembers this?
Really???
How long do you want to ignore this user?
He died in the middle of the fight. It was showing why Luke took that callsign.

Also, the run in with a certain Mos Eisley duo on Jedha......priceless

In thought this was a little too much. And did they have time to get off planet before it was hit?

I definitely laughed out loud in the theater at this moment. I too thought it was a little too much.

If we are gonna spend money to CGI smokin' hot Leia, can we not all agree that it should be slave Leia?

If I'm disappointed in anything, it's the music. Would have been better off just re-using JW's original work.

I didn't really notice the music.

In the other Star Wars movies, the music is memorable. Heck, I remember in '77 that the pop radio stations were playing the Star Wars soundtrack.

Other than the opening, I don't remember any of the music in this pic.

Only when you chant nonsense about the force. Otherwise they were lighting fools up.

I noticed the music multiple times and thought it was solid. I think it's hard to evaluate after one viewing in contrast to music with 6-7 movies I've seen countless times behind it. Incredibly high and reinforced bar.

in the other thread, there was a yoube theory posted that the Rogue One team becomes the Knights of Ren, and several who watched it expressed regret for having done so. I'd say those regrets and concerns can be put to rest.

Also thought the planet force field was very similar to the same element presented in spaceballs, without the Dot Matrix included of course.

Anything but solid in most places. Sounded like a cheap ripoff. There was one melody that was good and that was about it. To each his own though.

Just re-watched that teaser and it's really amazing how little of that teaser is actually in the movie.

1. "I rebel" line - Nope
2. Whitaker with short hair/young look and his lines "What if they break you... what will you become." - Nope
3. The final frames of Jyn turning around in the tunnel - Nope
4. Mendelson on the beach - Nope
5. Jyn running around in the sand with the giant walkers - Nope
6. The cool blaring siren sound - Nope

I mean literally over half of that teaser isn't actually in the movie.
it does feel like the final product was completely different then what was presented in the trailer. I want to read more about the changes.

I wonder if originally there was much more internal conflict for Jyn if she would go through with it up to the end.

So on a 2nd viewing I liked it even more, mainly because the somewhat disjointed beginning didn't bother me since I knew how it all pieced together, and also I wasn't in the super sound system theater this time so the music on the planet intros didn't seem so overdramatic.

One thought I had though is that if the movie might have been better off with an opening crawl. Now, I'm on the record as saying I always want a crawl in a SW film, but I understand the argument for not doing so for the non-episodes. But given that some people are definitely confused by the beginning, I wonder if a crawl couldn't have helped by providing a bit of back story for people who haven't read Catalyst. Something to the effect of (but written by a professional):

"After discovering the Galactic Empire is weaponizing his energy research, kyber crystal specialist Galen Erso has gone into hiding with his wife and daughter on the planet _____ with the help of the controversial insurgent Saw Gerrera.

After months/years of searching, Director Orson Krennic has finally tracked his former friend and colleague down, and must now bring him back into the Imperial fold to save the beleaguered Death Star project and bring order to the galaxy...."

Somehow I completely missed this. Gonna look for it tomorrow on view #2.

To me that definitely is meant to foreshadow how desperate their situation is, and the coming of the new hope that will be Luke. What a great thing to put in.

I'm definitely much more interested in seeing this a 2nd time than I was TFA. I enjoyed jumping in and piecing it together, which I felt I was able to without much of an issue. But I also know there is more I want to go back and look for. I really liked the pace and it made the movie fly by (I thought it seemed shorter than TFA even though the running times are the same). Maybe they could have done more with Saw, but I didn't think it was a major issue.

After multiple viewings, here are some things I noticed...

- storm troopers on Scarif talking about obsolete blasters. Remember the tractor beam shutoff with Obi Wan in Ep IV? Troopers were talking about the new blasters arriving
- on Eadu, when Krennic's shuttle afterburners away, Jyn nearly gets blown off a rain slickened platform, but Galen doesn't move an inch.
- I didn't hear a Wilheim scream? Did I miss it?
- General Syndula report to the command center...guess Hera gets promoted and survives Rebels.
- The Scarif battle and the subsequent loses shows how somebody like Biggs and Luke could just jump into an x wing so soon.
- Vader's suit on Mustafar was layered just like Ep IV, with that tabard over the shoulder plate. Also had the same orange eye lenses.

I'm sure I'll come up with some more later. Maybe after a few more viewings.

I thought I heard the Wilheim scream on the platform when Jyn pulled herself up and grabbed the storm trooper and pulled him off. Seemed like a very short scream though.
