For all we know, the x wing pilot who killed him recognized him and notified command that the mission was accomplished. They may have had a second round of fighters waiting in the wings.

Everyone bombs crap to stop production, it is an universal tactic since they realized they could drop bombs from planes.
Stop production of what? The mission was to kill one man.ja86 said:

The Rebel fleet taking on the Imperial fleet over Scariff was probably the best large-scale battle sequence of any Star Wars film. It was exhilarating and had me on the edge of my seat.RPM said:
Not sorry I missed this in the theater.

Reading up on Saw Guerrera, I see that I should have been watching the Star Wars cartoons to understand who he was. Yeah, no thanks. Even The Phantom Menace thinks the Clone Wars cartoons are childish. Looks like Disney/Lucasfilm probably confused lots of fans because they insisted on tying together a cartoon and movie in order to reinforce their canonicity.
But you had also said this...Quote:
The character was nothing more than a plot device to advance the story.

It was refreshing to see how there are factions vying for supremacy even on the "good guy" side of the Alliance.
Actually, the Clone Wars series as a whole is far better than the prequels, but from the tone of your post I doubt you've given them a chance.RPM said:

Keep in mind that there was MASSIVE reshoots and rewriting done to this movie. There are pictures of Whitaker without the wild hair floating around the internet. Who really knows what his arc was before the reshoots?RPM said:
Cool. I'll just have to disagree.
He was propped up to be a force to be reckoned with or something and it really fell flat. The character was nothing more than a plot device to advance the story.
Seems incredibly lazy to use a fantastic actor like Forest Whitaker in less than five minutes of screen time. Instead of having the two samurais no one cared about, why not keep Forest in the picture longer and have him die in some bad ass battle scenes on Scarif?
Disney was probably more interested in filling a diversity quotient than producing a story with a tight plot.
The movie was decent and it introduced some interesting things into the Star Wars universe. The storytelling just wasn't there.
Sorry you felt that way. Personally, I loved the characters of Baze and Chirrut. "I am one with the Force and the Force is with me" is such a damn cool thing to say.Quote:
