Not that big. According to their permitting work, La Mad will only be 4,500 square feet (suite 100).
Ok, I was going by the COCS building permits that referenced 13,000 sf and $100,000.
I posted about this on the restaurant review thread last night and figured I'd mention something here too. The new wine and cocktail bar in downtown Navasota, Portofino, is doing a soft opening through tomorrow and will be officially open Saturday. Same owner as Damiano's and is located next door.
We stopped in last night. I felt the wine selection left something to be desired. There were several options from Threshold (which I love but the options seemed to be overpriced) and a lot of Messina Hoff (not a fan of their wines). The cocktail selection was fine but nothing stood out.
However, the apps were fantastic and the tuna tartare was the star. The portion size was huge and the Calabrian chili sauce was a great addition. I will go back specifically for that. The stuffed dates and Tuscan bruschetta were delicious as well. They had several types of bruschetta listed and, while I can't remember all the other food options, beef tartare was one.
Navasota is doing a great job with its downtown. I like it better than downtown Bryan and it's the same distance for me.

Respectfully, the whole point of the review thread is to keep reviews separate from coming/ going. That said you clearly enjoyed the place.

Bill Miller family recently bought old Rice Garden, half the old LaQuinta, On The Border and all four of the office building in between. They already owned the old Taco Cabana.DisTex said:

Do you know what their plan is?
There had been a listing for the two separate former la Quinta buildings marketing it is a boutique hotel option. It's now gone from the Oldham Goodwin site. Hopefully that idea has been scrapped. Those buildings just need to be torn down.

Kiddoc and I went to the Unreined event on Saturday. It's an impressive setup. We did a bourbon flight and both of us liked 2 of the 3. We both enjoyed the Wheated offering and he liked the highest proof whiskey while that was a little much for me.
We both had a bison burger and shared an order of tallow fries. It was absolutely delicious! The bun was 10/10.
Best of luck to them! I think it's a winner.
