While the timing seemed incredibly suspect, I don't think the person asking the question to Charlie when he was assassinated was in on it.

However, is it possible that the shooter had been waiting for someone to bring up a trans issue/question (very likely) and then using that as his opportunity to "send a message"? I think this was the most likely case.

I may have read the arrest report wrong on the timing of the shooters movements but it seemed to me the report said he got to the roof from the stairwell, crossed the roof to the sniper position, got prone, aimed shot and ran to where he climbed off the roof all within a span of like 3-4 minutes. Just don't see think he waited up there any length of time for a specific moment or question

I agree. The guy who asked the question was in complete shock and disgust when it happened.

Granted you could still have that reaction even if you were in on it, but he really looked caught off guard.

I don't think the assassin could even hear what was going on- thousands of people in between the rooftop and Charlie and I doubt the murderer was focusing on what was being said.

They'll get DNA from something: rifle, towel, bullets, tools found, etc. May be his and his lawyers last ditch effort to hold out to see if he can leverage anything to avoid death penalty. Kash already confirmed they got positive DNA matching of the suspect in custody from the screwdriver and the towel. A different group is processing the rifle and they don't have those results yet
