Yeah, I think online groupthink forums are probably much more responsible for creating extremists. I realize that libs think F16 is the same, but here they are making arguments and debating with us. Most lefty sites simply ban conservatives rather than be exposed to their arguments.

I'm beginning to think this guy is just a mixed-up kid, that has no real deeply held political or ideological beliefs and has had his filled with a bunch of conflicting disorganized ideas coming from both left and right sources.

Nothing we have seen suggests he has any serious belief system. What little we have suggests he is more interested in trolling the world than reforming into some ideologically based utopia. He's just 22. How many 22 year-olds are confident and well founded enough in their belief systems enough to carry out such a dramatic action? He seems more like a mental tossed salad of ideas.

I think if the left or the right are looking at this guy as proof of the evil of the opposing side are going to be disappointed. I think he is just a dumb confused kid who couldn't sort out the influences around him.

ETA: and just like that, the post below mine suggests the same thing, I think in the end, we will see this as a personal problem, not a political one)

I mean it's clear as day to me. If he was anti fascist and that was written in the casings….what party has been compared to Nazis & fascists by the media & politicians on one particular side? Charlie was Trump's biggest supporter among the youth and this evil kid clearly hated both individuals & knew they one of them would be a lot easier to get to. what will make only create more smoke is that he most likely came from a conservative family. He may even have been a registered republican before he went off to school. But at some point he became radicalized.

Both are to blame, but the education system in this country is the root cause, and what has helped to make the internet, message forums, etc. what they are.
