aren't there funds from the unions paying the striking workers now?

so they really aren't "starving' but are still getting some type of salary from the strike funds.

correct?

2008 was only 100 days? For some reason that felt way longer.

Didn't hurt that we got some of the best ever Conan material in those 100 days, and it introduced us to the greatness of Jordan Schlansky.
The best ever Conan material was written by Robert E. Howard in the 1930s.

...and THAT sounds like something Jordan Schlansky would say.

This is how I picture him typing that response.

Pretty interesting article about the recent success of Suits and lack of pay the actors are getting for it. More interesting since I'm currently in season 3 of it on Netflix.

Definitely sounds like they are getting screwed. Kind of feel bad for them. Well, everyone except for Meghan...although she was pretty hot in that series.

AI scanning of background actors (without notice, consent or payment) has already begun, it seems

What a disingenuous headline. I doubt they said "we're not paying them fairly"

Right? And they didn't "brag" about it either.

That's partly in response to universal tearing up the sidewalks and then putting up barricades because the sidewalks are now "under construction"

If this is what they are asking for, they deserve to lose. Maybe Hollywood needs some IQ requirements . Drama majors are not our best and brightest.

Rachel Zegler said the following from the picket lines: "If I'm going to stand there 18 hours in the dress of an iconic Disney princess, I deserve to be paid every hour that it is streamed online."

Can't blame the studios, that's a non-starter and impossible for streaming.

I didn't read this particular article, but I have seen a lot of talk about how little the Suits writers are getting, and a major point they all seem to leave off is that the writers were already paid for their work a decade ago when the show came out. If it weren't for streaming/Netflix, the show would be completely forgotten. For something like Suits, this is essentially extra money that no one would have gotten twenty years ago.

I don't know how the pay scales go, but I assume the pay for something like Stranger Things is completely different, because that show was made for Netflix and it's first run is on Netflix. Shows like Suits, which are finding a second life in streaming, should not be treated the same as shows that were created entirely for streaming.

Knock on wood, and there's always of course the chance that this could all be some perverse strategy on the part of the AMPTP, but there's been A LOT of legit chatter/hope today that this thing might slowly but surely finally be coming to an end, with the studios seemingly conceding, at least somewhat, on the two main sticking points. All it took was 100+ days, the actors striking as well, and Hollywood coming to a complete standstill, to finally break them…

One of the Comedy Central roasts, maybe the Pam Anderson roast, a female comedian slammed Sarah pretty good, maybe the best smack I've heard thrown her way at one of those roasts.

She said something to the effect of "the bartender at this place makes a martini that is drier than Sarah Silverman's vagina in a room full of men who can't help her career.

Normally the person on the receiving end of the zinger at least fakes laughter. Silverman did not smile.

It might have hit a little too close to home.

Was out picketing with my daughter Callie and a bunch of others from That 90's Show. Florence Pugh was very gracious to take some pics with us. Hopefully the strike ends soon…

She looked good in Hawkeye and in the Black Widow movie.

I can't even really tell which person is her in that photo.
