I have said probably 10x that the dude is below rock bottom
This is a pile on a guy thread that is 3 to 5 years old that tried to die bc he thinks less of himself than you do

That is my point

I would still rather hang out with him than most of you people

So the people that gave him money...how does that happen?

A supposed successful attorney needs emergency venmo money to fix a flat tire or his credit card was lost...whatever the situation.

The stories were that believable that it made sense to wire thousands of dollars?

I can sort of understand the legal work angle. But if you really do need legal help aren't you going to get multiple referrals and do some vetting before spending a lot of money?

sorry for the questions, I'm just trying to understand it all.

Have you watched Fyre fraud on Netflix yet? Some persons got took for $150K.

What I've learned from reading this thread:

1) I can't believe this many of you know each other IRL; I truly KNOW one poster IRL on here, have met one other that I can think of
2) glad I'm not TexAgs popular
3) I'm still changing my username

Didn't Brandon say he was going to post this evening?

My guess is the legal team at TexAgs put an end to that thought. Can't say I blame them as this is a complete mess given the allegations, potential indirect involvement, timing and lack of disclosure or suspension of his ability to PM others, timing etc.

Will be interesting if the topic makes the show tomorrow. Not counting on it, but is an interesting thought. Might be a good way to address the situation.

I am not blaming TexAgs, just pointing out a number potential issues and solutions. As a longime member, I enjoy this platform and want to see it continue as a leader.

I think summing this up in a way that correctly states exactly what TexAgs staff wishes the world to know and then pinning that and closing down the discussions is in order. I think they do need to address publicly the situation in a helpful way.

I've seen this happen with pastors at churches. These are very easy mistakes to make. It's part of why Facebook became a popular login social because at the time they required and tried to enforce real names. They don't even try any longer.

This thread is painful to see and read. I'm just relieved to see an Arrest notice than a Obituary. Just like most on this thread, I consider Damon a friend.

I've spent as much time and probably more with Damon this past year than anyone. He spiraled out of control personally, professionally, and financially years ago. As with most addicts, Damon was an ego maniac with an inferiority complex. The " big break" he was always hoping for and betting on just never came, so here we are.

Like many of you, I fell prey to Damon's ability to convince me that pay day was coming. It was nothing in terms of what some of you have lost.

I hope you all can take time and pray for Damon. But most of all, I ask for prayers for his boys. They are the biggest losers in this brutal mess. Damon loves those boys like no other. Falling behind on his child support and thus not being able to see those boys was always the focal point of our gut level talks. And like clockwork, those gut level talks always found their way to rehashing the good times he had shared with dozens of Aggies, many whom are posting on this thread.

I'll miss Damon and I forgive him for his poor choices he's made with our friendship. God grants us grace and mercy through the worst of times in our lives. I will, as well.

Gig 'em.

So my question from the early pages was never answered. When and where are the initial complaints of his scams first being brought to light? And his friends defending him?

Was this on the Varsity board? Is this why only a select few knew? Are those threads still active?

I remember chatting with him on the basketball board. He didn't take kindly to BK.

Also, EcoFapp guy was much more entertaining. Wish he'd come back to the boards

Stating the obvious, but when you learn someone who is a Texas licensed attorney gets busted for running a load of marijuana ... hello - Houston, we have a problem.

IIRC, many years back there was a TexAgs originated fund drive for a prominent former football player due to a child's illness. And IIRC, Damon was collecting the donations.

Makes me wonder. Do any of the TexAgs Master Investigators want to track that one down?

That and the Mercy foundation stuff. I gave some money to both of those. Please tell me that was legit?

Some people on here asked why others didn't notify them of his act. I can tell you that some people did try to stop his antics. I had people reach out to me knowing I would be willing to file complaints on Damon. Where I work we have policies about associating with known criminals. After finding out about his marijuana charge and probation status I became aware of his conditions. In my official capacity at work I emailed his probation officer on at least four occasions notifying him of Damon's violations. The first time I brought it to the probation officer's attention he stated he couldn't do anything based off of word of mouth and asked for evidence that could be used in court. On two other occasions I provided photographs and videos. One of the other times was when Damon left the state and went to an A&M football game. Turns out he also went to a funeral and that is why his leave was granted.

For some reason his probation never acted on these violations (at least that I am aware of). The last incident was a month prior to release off probation and based off the previous incidents I figured the probation officer wouldn't act, so I filed a complaint with the state bar. Damon had someone file/swear to a false statement on his behalf. The state bar ended up closing the complaint with no action taken.

I had heard from word of mouth about people loosing money to Damon, but unfortunately there are too many boards on here and I am not on here to stalk a guy so I could not notify others about his actions. If it weren't for another poster on the forum I wouldn't have known about this thread as I have never clicked on this board.

As someone who has talked to Brandon on multiple occasions I will give him the benefit of the doubt. He is a stand up/all class type of guy. I will say that the inconsistent moderating has made me decide to post less over the years.

I have no idea about the money for toombs' son. I do know that compliance shut that down because they considered it improper benefits. I have no idea what happened after that.

As for Mercy Project, I think everything he was involved in with that the money went directly to MP and was never in Damon's hands. I know my donation for the kickball game was paid directly. I assume others did the same.

There was a thread on varsity about the situation with deats.

Most of the stuff that followed was asking for loans not offering legal services.

When he was suspended again, someone sent me a message and I started paying attention to see if he was drumming up business here. It was almost all behind the scenes. I had no proof so I wasn't going to put myself out for more grief based on suspicion.

I only found out recently that he was still offering legal services to other people here who were not aware that he wasn't legally able to provide those services.

I don't know Jorts. Listen to him on the radio. Thought he was there to stir the pot.

I do know a bunch of friends are stuck on oxy. It is hell watching this tear apart otherwise good people. What I have seen is older, heavier, usually former athletes have a medical problem. They get the pain killers and can't stop. These are all 40 year old college educated family men that are in trouble.

The hardest part it the visual signs are very tough to pick up.

I just posting this to say it is happening a lot.

Good post and much to learn from this. Deats - sorry you got caught in the web but glad you were able to get some restitution. Many on here did not. Damon's web was apparently wide and many were taken And he has reached a place where only those with demons and major issues reach. I pray for him, as I met him many times and he actually used to work for a law firm I employed - he never worked on my cases and there are many on here who have no idea the level of desperation he was and/or is in.
This thread was inevitable. (I've been expecting it for some time) This post sums it up nicely.

Damon's story is a cautionary tale. Let us all heed the warning, and learn from the mistakes of others.

That being: there are more than a few desperate people in the world, AND, "desperate people do desperate things!"

Unfortunately, if it can be proven that the TexAgs ownership had knowledge of these "issues" and continued to give him access to our personal info, then that's a big problem. I like the site, but since the mods now have god status (in their own eyes), I spend less and less time here

[We are leaving this thread alone as much as possible to let people vent but we are going to be very clear about that subject
The volunteer moderators do not have access to the personal information of any posters and that included Damon. -Staff]
