I think people need to brace for the fact she's either going to win on the insanity defense or it's going to be a hung jury. Those following the actual trial are pretty convinced based on the way the evidence has been presented that the jury is unlikely to convict of murder.
She has good defense attorneys, good experts, and the prosecutors have effectively changed their theory of the case midstream. The state experts are now saying something different than what the prosecutors initially stated in opening argument.
This is nothing to do with the social media tomfoolery. I don't like how the verdict is going to be interpreted by either side of the circus.
White women can literally get away with anything including murder now...They are the bane of society.
She wouldn't be getting away with it...if the insanity defense works, she will be institutionalized, if there is a hung jury, the case will be tried again.
she absolutely could be released from the mental ward if a Judge deems she is fit.
I think more often than not, people who do things of this nature who are found to be criminally insane remain institutionalized for long periods of time.
I found one case where a woman in Texas got out after eight years, but still has parole-like stipulations on her release, check ups every so often, and is not allowed to be alone unsupervised with children. On the other side, Andrea Yates from Texas has remained in a psychiatric facility since she got out.
At the end of the day, if you kill your kids, you should be locked up forever...I could be cool with it being in a psych facility rather than prison though, if you actually can prove you were out of your mind.
Why even say this when you know it isn't possible? We can't get in to the mind of another person.
Don't feign ignorance here. You know and everybody else knows that Lindsay Clancy will be out of the institution within a decade. She is already completely magically healed from her supposed psychosis.
It's been fun talking philosophically about what the punishment should be for cases like these and glad we all generally agree. However, the reality of the situation is much much darker than we hope. She'll be walking free in basically no time.
That's just factually untrue.
