They don't have OT in Massachusetts. This is how it was for Karen Read.

That's just because of how many black male criminals there are compared to white ones, not because black men are getting off easier across large population samples. Statistically, nearly all violent crime in major urban centers is committed by black men between the ages of 16 and 50. So anyone you interact with or hear about that has a violent criminal history and is currently out on the street is likely going to be a black man. It's not as if all violent white criminals are locked up for life and it's just black ones getting out early or getting off entirely. It's just that you're significantly less likely to run into a former white violent felon in a major urban center.

And yes, a huge factor is who is defending these men. Black men utilize public defenders much more often than white men do.

It wouldn't have helped him. Men on the jury would have crucified him for killing his wife and kids and the women would nail him for cheating on his wife.

Chris Watts exhibits malevolence rather than insanity. In my opinion, Lindsay Clancy is not malevolent; instead, she suffers from a severe mental illness, and it would be prudent to keep her isolated from society for the remainder of her life. This isolation should not be viewed as a form of punishment, but rather as a measure for her own benefit and the safety of others.

Since Massachusetts has no death penalty, locked her up for the rest of her wretched life is the best possible outcome. Whether it is for a triple murder conviction, or being declared insane, doesn't matter. She should never have the opportunity to live freely again.

That said, the only just penalty for what she did is execution. I don't care of is was "insane/psychotic at that moment." It should not be an excuse to avoid punishment.

"Lindsay Clancy was just mentally ill"

Okay and Jeffrey Dahmer was just hungry.

Toss her ass in prison for life or the precedent this will set will open floodgates that the liberal women will never let be closed.

I don't understand what OT has to do with anything. But 4 pm isn't OT in any event.

I think it has more to do with the court/county/state employees union agreement.

Very much this. She methodically murdered 3 children. I don't give a **** about her state of mind. She should have as much life as she gave them.

Sorry, I call BS, they are clearly going easier on these black urban criminals than they used to if you follow violent crime in places like Houston, in the name of "racial justice". Hell, THEY SAID THEY WOULD.

"Black Girl Magic" has been an absolute disaster, but it's also white liberal judges letting these career menaces off easy.

I also think the severity of the crimes plays a role. Young black men just statistically commit the most heinous and heartless crimes, often for a few hundred dollars, sometimes less. Take Nhung Trong...this sweet mother of three was pulsing out hard earned money so that she could go visit family in Vietnam when a young black guy, accompanied by young black female, decided to ambush her. It wasn't enough to just take the envelope of cash, the fatherless thug had to pick her up and slam her down on the pavement, paralyzing her. YOU DO NOT SEE WHITE BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMING UP TO DO THIS SORT OF THING...at least not to a fraction of the degree blacks do.. You just don't...although I know you are married to your position and will argue otherwise.

Hell, also take the case of George Floyd and Derek Chauvin. George Floyd was a career criminal who once invaded a pregnant woman's home and terrorized her at gunpoint so that his thug buddies could steal her possessions. He also poisoned his community. He OD's during an arrest for counterfeiting money and then the hero of the story, the old school cop (which society desperately needs right now across the board) who was following protocol, gets locked up for MURDER. His partner, who was guilty of absolutely nothing, had to do hard time to and was almost killed in jail. George Floyd became the ultimate martyr and even role model to many. He was a violent savage POS.

White boys also aren't stabbing black kids to death at track meets for being told they are in the wrong area or having a hand placed on them. And if a white boy kills a black kid, you certainly don't have a large % of whites applauding it and weeping for the killer, or raising a million $$$ for him. We could do this all day, but you won't have any of it. Just keep your head in the sand.

The jury just told the judge they cannot reach a unanimous verdict, and he instructed them to resume deliberation. Looks like a hung jury. Not surprised.

I saw tthat it is very likely going to be a hung jury. The Judge sent them back to try to get a verdict.

Not looking very good for real justice.

Hung jury is the best outcome given the makeup of this jury.

This was the most cut and dry murder case one can get.

Writing was on the wall when they failed to return a verdict after a couple of hours.

The case will get retried and the prosecution will have a chance tune up their case for Round 2.

I don't think this was a cut and dry murder conviction. There was so much testimony about the defendant's psychological state that was in dispute. I'm not surprised the jury is hung. I'm pleasantly surprised there was not a quick finding of insanity. It tells me the jury is doing their best to do their job and actually sift through the evidence.

If this is retried, there's no way with the amount of press on this that you won't find at least 1 out of 12 with strong convictions she's innocent or insane.

Women who are ok with murdering their child in their womb, will be perfectly ok murdering them outside too.
This is not shocking.

The psychologization of life and our therapeutic society has eroded moral responsibility.

Coincidentally, the rise of psychologization occurred with the decline in religious faith.

Expect now to see a rise in postpartum psychosis diagnoses (like the ridiculous multiple personality disorder which is no longer fashionable), not that there will be an increase in mothers acting violently towards their children, but to excuse some other behavior and meet some other need.

This was far from cut and dry. Removing even the purely political posts here, this thread is close to 20 pages. I'd agree that this is a very clear cut case of who killed the kids, but definitely not clear cut on the murder charge.

Reading the tea leaves of the case here, but I think the term "beyond the shadow of a doubt" is going to be the biggest obstacle in the way of a conviction.

That being said - this case and this jury right now is probably the highest likelihood we'll have of jurors leaning only on evidence presented - and all agreeing that her hands were the ones that held those exercise bands. Any retrial in Mass. is going to run the huge risk of 1 of the 12 thinking she didn't kill the kids at all.

Well if that's the case then the jurors are not following the law and instructions they've received.

The standard is "beyond a reasonable doubt," not "beyond the shadow of a doubt."

But it's not, specifically because of how many options the jury has. They don't JUST have to all agree whether or not she did it AND whether or not she was insane, but if they find that she wasn't insane they then have to agree on the specific crime.

From a juror standpoint it's actually a uniquely complex case because they are effectively answering three separate questions.

If you were legit insane (didn't know right from wrong) and killed your kid(s) and then once again became sane, you should want to die. Or at the very least throw yourself at the mercy of the court and plead guilty,

She's on a pretty heavy suicide watch so I don't think there's a chance that happens.

The defense did ask at the beginning to split the case out. He wanted to argue that she didn't kill the kids at all, and has sprinkled in bits and pieces to make the jury suspect that the dad may have had something to do with it. So now we have a camp of people who think she did it and was sane, another camp who thinks she was insane but still needs to do the time, the psycho camp who thinks she was insane and should be put on a pedestal for some insane reason, and a 4th camp of "the dad did it".

So even that part that seems like it should have been clear is muddied now. Prosecution did a terrible job.
