One of the dumber things I've seen here. Are you a woman by chance?

Bernie Sanders over say, Sarah Huckebee? Great idea!

They are conservative out of opportunity not because of conviction

Sounds like you hang around the wrong women. Perhaps some inner reflection?

Imagine being this out of touch with modern women and society in general.

Look, I get your sentiment, but if you would vote for a hardcore communist maggot over Sarah Huckabee, that's just silly. You have to at least admit that there are exceptions.

Annie88 on this website has been nothing but consistently far right on here for decades. I have never seen her waver or conceded a millimeter on this website.

Every woman in my family is devoutly Christian conservative. My mother would be considerd an "extremist" by most of the left.

Just seems like you are resorting to some mild hyperbole to prove a point that many of us already agree with. MOST women are easily emotionally hijacked and extremely shallow when it comes to voting and also tend to have no more than a surface level grasp of the issues that truly matter to our country and culture. I agree.

What is the difference between this case, and instances where the man goes truly schizophrenic or manic and ends up killing his family or harming other innocent people?

Can anyone for an effing second imagine a world where men would be rallying for the father and goaltending for him? Hell no, we would all be saying "fry that piece of sh**" or "I'll gladly put a bullet in his head and save taxpayers money".

By their "logic" (or lack thereof) we should be sad for school shooters because most of them suffer from genuine psychiatric issues or are over or under medicated.

It's pretty disgusting and disturbing.

I don't like how the case is politicized to the extent this somehow became a men versus women issue. To me that has nothing to do with the legal aspects of the case but it's probably why it has garnered so much attention.

I'm looking at this as an interesting legal case which should be decided on the legal merits. In my opinion we should be trying to look at this as objectively and non-emotionally as possible. Was she legally insane at the time of the murders? That's the issue. If men find themselves similarly situated their actions should also be judged the same way.

Common law and statutory law in Massachusetts seem to be on the defendant's side here when the facts are applied.

Almost every attorney I've seen who has looked at this case and understands the fact pattern thinks the prosecution has a very difficult time winning a conviction.

IMO, it's entirely uninteresting to discuss whether she's "legally insane." You're just getting in to the minutiae of legalese.

What's more interesting is discussing what is just in cases like these where the murderer has committed such depravity, we have to discuss how we remove them from society, insane or not. Allowing people like this to be considered legally insane releases them back to torment the public. We have to reconcile this injustice.

Additionally, we have a large sect of the population that is proving they are incapable of participating in normal political and philosophical discourse. Many women who are ostensibly "right wing" are taking the woman's side because of vibes. There is a sick merging of left and right women around this case "in defense of women" or some such nonsense.

How often are people like this reintegrated into society?

Andrea Yates, for example, was in prison for a bit and then moved to a psychiatric hospital. According to her wikipedia page, she roomed with another woman who killed her child who is also in a psych hospital still.

I assume, today, most people who are legally "insane" typically stay in mental facilities for most of their lives, but I definitely could be off on that.

Assuming she's found not guilty by reason of insanity, she'd be in a psych hospital and up for release annually, according to state law. And we know the type of people who will be deciding if she's fit for release. It's the same people who are DAs who don't prosecute minorities or these women judges types who go extremely easy on everybody except white men.

They'll see her good behavior and that she's taking her meds for a few years and she will be released.

Those two I mentioned have both been in psych facilities for close to 20 years, but I guess they are in Texas, not Massachusetts.

I hope Lindsay Clancy gets convicted of murder and receives a life sentence for strangling her three young children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan. Unfortunately, a jury could find her not guilty by reason of insanity. If she gets sent to a mental health facility and a review panel thinks she's fit to be released, she could be released any given year.

I've moved on to the Jared Bridegan (Microsoft executive) who was murdered by his ex-wife, current husband and the hitman in Florida. Similar to the Adelson case.

Yes, but women gushing over her on Instagram have turned this into a social/cultural issue. You would never see large groups of normal family-men weeping for a man who went clinically insane and killed his children. You just wouldn't.

We would be begging for the gun to put the psycho killer in the dirt. It's getting harder and harder to take women seriously.

I was on your side of thinking until I was reading about the care she received and the amount of medications that she was prescribed….at least from what I saw, there was a genuine fight to get her help…heck to even get her in a facility…I won't speak to her frame of mind when she killed her kids, that is between her and the jury, and then ultimately God…I wish she truly would have gotten the help she needed, because ultimately those 3 kids would still be alive.

The problem is we really have no idea what "the help...needed" is for people who are intent on scheming the brutal murders of their 3 young children. Obviously anybody in any state of mind that does that needs some kind of help.

The safest thing to do is completely delete these people from society when it happens.

My wife and I had not discussed the case at all before this weekend and she happened to bring it up to me randomly. She had not heard of the case before it came up at her book club last week. The book club is a group of right wing and left wing women that all had facts about the case completely incorrect and convinced my wife they were true. My wife was completely embarrassed when I told her and proved none of the "facts" presented were correct.

This is taking women of all political leanings, sadly. If you go on twitter, all sorts of right wing e-girls are on Clancy's side.

I don't disagree with the sentiment at all…just seeing the different amount of drugs she was prescribed over a 3 month period is troubling, one can't help but think that mixture of drugs was not good for her mental state. I am not defending her actions at all…but we have seen similar cases in which everyone knew the mom/dad was not right and they did nothing to help him/her…this case there is a clear picture that the family was actively trying to get her help and they were turned away for treatment at different facilities.

So do we extend this to all psycho killers who aren't getting the right mental help now? Former Aggie WR Thomas Johnson? Or only women/mothers who do this sort of thing?

It's because we're at a Gender Wars Discourse boiling point right now.

It's unfair for me to try to speak for others, but from what I've put together over the last week of social media, a lot of women look at Lindsay Clancy and they see themselves.

Of the otherwise reasonable, intelligent women I know who have made pleas on her behalf:

- Most have had kids and had severe postpartum depression, or is very close to someone who has.
- They're on SSRI's, have been for a long time, and may have had their own moments of questioning sanity.
- A lot are on SSRI's and have tried to taper or get off of them, with bad consequences.
- Most are divorced, in process, or weighing it out.
- Almost all use the words "emotional labor", "not my job to educate you", and therapyspeak as everyday utensils.
- Not all, but a majority openly hate men and make no qualms about saying it.

They recognize a lot of similarities in themselves about her pre-incident. Seemingly successful. Family, kids, postcards. Struggling but staying strong for everyone's sake.

I think they stick up for her, give her the benefit of the doubt, and play devil's advocate because they wonder just how close they've been to doing something similar... or worry about the non-zero likelihood that the combination of bullets above is now a major risk factor in their own lives. They wonder that in the combination of all factors, if one or two things had been nudged gently in other directions in their lives, if this could have been them.

The quantity of people advocating for complete exoneration is very small. Most seemingly want to split the culpability with a bunch of other parties, as a mitigation from the full legal consequences of a triple homicide.

If the number of people who have her back (at least a bit) surprises you, you may not fully realize just how far Millenial & younger generations are on the ropes here.

The quantity of people who openly celebrated the Charlie Kirk murder was relatively small. However, you got a glimpse in to the psyche of the young left. The same is happening here with mostly young women. It's also more broadly indicative of this conspiracism that is running rampant among women, as seen in Candace Owens' popularity.

But we are seeing how women will band together against men, even women ostensibly on the right. These women will claim they are for the truth more than the left, then they'll side with the left and against the truth when the issue becomes man vs woman. It just points to the general anti-man nature of society.

No, we apply the law as the facts indicate.

In the Johnson case his defense team did not present an insanity defense to the jury. They either did not have enough to go on to meet the high standard or he (once competent) chose to instruct his attorneys not to present the defense. We know based on media reports that after conferring with his defense attorney they chose to not call witnesses to the stand.

Not every person with a psychiatric disorder would qualify for an insanity defense. Very few do. Each state has their own laws. It's a difficult defense to win on in every state, including Massachusetts. The difficult burden is fine with me.

My wife found interest in this over the weekend after talking to her BFF, who's a SAHM with a very rich husband and nothing to do during the day.

Now my wife has found the proceedings on YouTube and is watching it from the beginning and is already saying this woman is innocent and was framed. She's very conservative in general but is still getting drawn into this BS. She's fitting right into the spot that people are talking about in this thread and proving the point about women's thinking in general. This is making me sad for her and us.

ETA: just checked in and she's watching trial day 5 from a couple of weeks ago. Literally watching from the beginning after talking to her friend. Sheesh.

Yep. This is true crime female culture. They all watch that garbage and now they all think they are detectives. Given the fact that none of them ever think women are guilty and it's always the man's fault, you have a system that compounds.

These women are now trying to get the new wife of the ex husband fired. They are insane.

Legitimately if your girlfriend or wife supports this women you should re-evaluate your entire relationship with her because odds are high she's insane.

I shut this down immediately and said the woman should burn when my wife mentioned the case. No excuses, death penalty at best, life in prison at worst. She agreed and then never brought it up again. Mental illness is never an excuse to murder.

Watching women rally around this monster and attempt to justify her actions has been one of the most eye opening and disgusting things I've ever witnessed.
I used to joke about it, but after watching the rise of elected far left loons, socialists, Islamists, etc. it's clear that we really do need to repeal the 19th amendment. There's a reason women were relegated to certain places in their various societies
throughout the millennia. We are so quick to throw the baby out with the bath water as it relates to our ancestors' insight and wisdom. Yes, some of them held some abhorrent beliefs and we've evolved past them. However, it's becoming ever more clear that societies were organized in certain ways because certain truths were recognized and that our "enlightened" age is an outlier in human history. Our dismissal of thousands of years of human nature in the name of "progress" is proving to be folly….and this applies to many things, not just the topic at hand.

I believe a couple of things are true.

1. Postpartum depression/ psychosis is real; is commonly missed or under diagnosed. In this case was not appropriately treated
2. The medical system failed Lindsey Clancy
3. But that doesn't absolve her of killing her children. She still, by her own admission, did it.
4. As sickening as it is, there's still a component of it that is related to a temporary psychiatric illness. Based on what I've heard before this, she was a regular person. She was actively seeking help to prevent something like this from happening. Those things should not be factored into her guilt but be factored into her punishment.
