When we arrived back in Joberg just now, it was bedlam at the commuter airport. The company who had been importing and transporting weapons for hunters had their transport license revoked. Lots of guys trying to find their guns.
You head straight to the international flight or over night in Joberg?
Last trip and the one coming up we have been walking across the street to the Intercontinental and spending the night both on arrival and departure. Good place for a nice shower, comfortable bed, and decent meal. Also a spa of that is your thing.

We're flying out tonight just before 10:00. Delta doesn't open bag check until 5:30, so we're going to Interconn just to cool our heels until time to go

Related to the 2002 Hunt: USF&W Service approved the lion permit. We started the process this morning to get it headed this way. All three approved in under 2 years. Very fortunate.

It's one of the transport and logistics companies that had their firearms transport licence reboked, don't know the name

Yesterday I was flipping through the Dish channels and found a show called "Mighty Trains" airing an episode on Rovos Rail. If you look for it on line, it is Season 3, Episode 2. It is a pretty good depiction of the company and its operation, from Durban to Pretoria and Pretoria to Cape Town. On the last afternoon in the Northern Cape, we hooked up with the folks from ASHIA Cheeta Conservation and got the opportunity to see this guy at very close range (~5 yds). They manage 3 cheetah's where we were (two males and a female). The two males had just come back from killing and feeding on a grey duiker. When we approached initially, our guide told us to expect one of the males to get up and leave. We saw him walk over the rock hill behind them. The bigger of the males just lazed there and was able to get this video of him until he decided to walk off. The organization manages 7,000 cheetah across southern Africa. The three where we were were set to be relocated into the wild in the Eastern Cape later in the year.
