I saw a black impala while stalking blesbuck last year and it was so beautiful - really amazing…I asked the PH how much and I think he said $3 or $4k and I promptly went back to stalking the $600 blesbuck…

In addition to the Leopard, I'd like to get a Pucu and a Hyena if time permits.
Our family spent a week at Phinda Mountain lodge on the eastern cape back in 2018, owned by &Beyond company. Flew into Durban and drove from there. It was a big safari nature preserve with chefs and amazing food and really good photo safaris. I didn't get to hunt that part of the country so I don't have recs where you can do both. South Africa is much bigger than many people realize. Cape Town and adjacent wine country is still our favorite.

This is my dad's black impala from hunting with Quagga on the Manketti game reserve in South Africa.
Headed back into the Spring blind at 4:00. New warthog bait was hit last night.
This is the tree the lions were lying under; and the bush just to the left that the lions were under... and close to the angle where we originally saw them. The tree is just to the right of center in the photo. The brush line behind it runs all the way across the entrance to the Pan. Went back by there today and saw just how little space for a shot there was behind that bush when the lion spun before the 1st shot. I'm feeling a little better about that shot after going back by there.

Yes, they have to clear about 550 miles of trail each year when they come into camp. It grows over during the Summer and Rainy season. Quite a bit of heavy machinery stored around the concession. The place is about 1200 square clicksDDSO said:japantiger said:

Yes, I was in another part of the country when I got out of the Marines and went to college. My love for A&M comes from the work I did with the business school and 2 of my 3 kids graduated A&M (class of 16 and class of 20). So the wife and I checked our 401ks out. We do not have 50 day safari money in there sadly. We did have "buy a pair of ostrich boots and pretend you shot it yourself money" however.

I'm shooting a Blaser R8, .375 H&H....with a Swarovski Z8i 2-16x scope. Carbon fiber stock. The rig comes in just under 10 pounds. Barnes VOR-TX 300 Gr softs and solids. I had the barrel ported and recoil is nothing...I shoot it in a t-shirt.El Chupacabra said:

and yes, you shoot them in the head...if they are straight on, you shoot them at the end of the arrow that is formed with their brow...if profile, you shoot between eye and ear. If quartered; you shoot either behind the ear or thru the eye depending on if they are quartered toward or away from you. You have to fit the shot into a tight space above the waterline.
When you get your leopard i vote you get it mounted like this.
