I'm still so confused by/annoyed at this whole plot point. What, again, was Reva trying to do? Exact revenge on Vader by killing the son he doesn't know he has? Kill Luke because she Anakin killed her friends? Even though that would make her JUST like Anakin, which was beyond obvious from the jump, and not something she should have finally realized at the last minute?

And I know Owen told Luke something about Tusken Raiders coming, but it was still super dumb for Luke to be chased by a woman with a lightsaber, who clearly wasn't a Tusken Raider. And then actually have Owen happily introduce Luke to Obi-Wan, only for Owen to angrily tell him to stay away from Obi-Wan years later.

1) Luke never sees her lightsaber. She turns it off when she goes outside to chase him. They very purposely made choices so that Luke would not see who it was other than someone in a dark cloak.

She clearly WASN'T a Tusker Raider, though. And she was still using the force to move rocks and sh*t.

2) Owen doesn't happily introduce him. He very begrudgingly introduces him. Owen doesn't do anything happily, he's an a-hole every time he's on screen.

Owen has a *literal* smile on his face and metaphorical twinkle in his eye when he asks Obi-Wan if he wants to meet Luke. I wasn't referring to every interaction before that moment. Point is, Owen actively introduces Obi-Wan to Luke, then, years later, is like, "Stay away from that crazy old man."

3) There's a huge difference between introducing your nephew to Ben in controlled circumstances and have Luke independently bring up the name "Obi-Wan Kenobi" - very specifically NOT BEN KENOBI - in reference to a droid that has come to the farm from an unknown source. Because BEN is an old harmless hermit, but OBI-WAN is a Jedi Knight who knows all of the darkest secrets in the galaxy and whose mistakes brought an Inquisitor to your farm 10 years ago and you were lucky as hell to not lose Luke then. So when the name OBI-WAN comes up, you tell Luke to stay away.

Are you really trying to tell me Luke thinks those are different people? Or trying to excuse the nonsense/story logic that Ben uses the exact same last name for both "characters"?

4) Reva spent 10 years plotting her revenge on Anakin/Vader and when she had her shot she failed and it nearly killed her. Then she found out Vader had a family out there, so she decided if she couldn't kill him, she'd kill his son. Sounds like the plot of just about every mafia/mob movie of all time.

Except that those mafia/mob bosses KNOW they have a son, and will feel terrible, tragic loss when their sons are dead. Even *if* the logic tracked, her motivations were muddy as hell and not at all explained clearly. She was a flat out horrible character, from start to finish.

Ha, really, the lengths you go to to apologize for this show are incredible. It's OK acknowledge that it missed the mark while ALSO being unapologetic in your enjoyment of it.

I thought it was a great show.

I'm not apologizing for Kenobi. I don't think it missed the mark.

The points I make seem super obvious to me as a lifetime Star Wars fan who has read probably 75-90% of the books and maybe 33%-50% of the comics.

I can't argue film techniques and choices with you because you have infinitely more knowledge on the subject than I do. But it takes me about 25 seconds to think about your questions and see the answer in Star Wars terms.

From what I can tell from years of previous discussions, you didn't watch the Clone Wars, didn't watch Rebels, didn't like the sequels, think Mando is canned and overly simplistic, hated Fett, and hated this. You and I have very different opinions of what Star Wars is and should be.

I'm grateful for every second and page of Star Wars content I can get. I understand you have higher standards for your entertainment fulfillment.

But you don't need to mock me for enjoying it.

I haven't read the whole thread so apologies in advance. I've actually avoided it because I like the show, and well… not everyone here does.

All I could think about when Obi Wan walked away from Vader was Alderaan. That decision destroyed a whole planet that included his "friends" who he's trusted so much with watching Leia. Dude just left a Sith Lord chillin. Again.

All they had to do was have him sense Luke in trouble first, then he's justified in leaving. But nope. He goes back to Alderaan and everyone is all smiles. And all I can think is Obi Wan signed all their death sentences.

Nah. That's not on Obi-Wan. Alderaan still gets destroyed by Tarkin with or without Vader.

.

I'm not mocking you at all. I just literally don't understand your motivation. More often than not you post as if George Lucas isn't going to let you into Star Wars heaven unless you bend over backwards defending every last decision this franchise makes. And I don't mean that in mocking fashion, that's just how it comes across; as if your fandom is at stake and you're being judged on your every word. And it's especially confusing when 90% of this thread flat out hates the show, not because we enjoy ragging on Star Wars, but because it was objectively lazy, and we saw so much more potential in what it could have been. So we're wondering why, as a fan, you seem to actively shield yourself from admitting what that potential could have been, and instead are perfectly content happily taking whatever they feed you.

All they had to do was add one simple line to make the Reva chase a much better part of the story:

OWEN: Luke, make sure you tie down those containers. We don't want those pirate gangs stealing our supplies again.

To Luke, it not a strange woman out to kill him, it's just a common thief. Removes all doubt going forward.

Vader scenes were great. Especially the helmet scene. How much more can they milk out of 91 year old James Earl Jones? Old dude has some stamina. National treasure.

Reva was a joke the entire season. And LOL at how much she was able to make out from that communication

I would be shocked if JEJ actually recorded lines for this. I'd bet just about anything the voice was computer generated this time.

I must have googled a crap story that said he'd signed on for it.

Edit - Looks like there are several stories out there that it was him, but must be wrong. Can't believe all u see on the internets

Credited with being the originator or something along those lines, I'm sure. But yeah, it almost had to generated this go-around. It was just too good/accurate, and noticeably better than the Rogue One version, which JEJ definitely recorded lines for.

Just finished the episode. Quick thoughts…

I liked the voice modulation when Vader had his helmet cut open. Cool touch.

Loved the emperor basically telling Vader "Bruh, you need to chill the F out" lol

Ice Cube Jr. did well in this series. I assume we'll see him in Andor?

I thought, as an actress, Moses Ingram has had a couple of redeemable moments the past two episodes. I think her character was an interesting idea that was horribly written and executed. Eh, probably could say that about the whole show.

I'm still pissed they gave us what, 5 inquisitors, and didn't have Obi-wan fight any of them?

This last episode makes the series worth the investment.

Season 2, baby. Obi-wan will be an ace by the closing credits of the finale

"Influencer" is bad enough, but the term "reactor" somehow blows it away in terms of ridiculousness. Please tell me you just made that up and it isn't a title/job that people actually have.

(I'm not at all against people posting their reactions to things online, but legitimizing it in any way is insane.)

This may be a big blindspot for you.
Its like most things, 80+% of them suck and are unoriginal, but the ones who are good at it are successful. Some are way more natural than others.

Doesn't mean I can't or don't think it's stupid as hell that people get payed to "react" online to other people's content, and that with a straight face are referred to as "reactors." I don't care how successful they are. YouTube culture in general bugs me, and is kind of known for being mocked. "Really odd thing" for you to be into.

Its basically reviewing the movie/tv show in real time, if they are good at it
For my preferences, the videos he linked are awful. Its just them staring open mouthed at a screen and faking a reaction. Not a fan of anything that isn't authentic feeling.

That's my issue. It can be and often is so performative and over-the-top. It's also a lot of nerdy bro types that just rub me the wrong way.

If someone wants to intelligently review/react to something in real time, I'm all for it. Or, if it's obviously genuine, full of joy, etc, like that father/priest guy, it's great.

But these "reactor" dudes are such chodes.

The Vader fight this episode was pretty cool. Seems like that was the building block for the whole series but they did an absolute **** job with the narrative and try their best to **** up a lot of the story in a new hope to do so.

This series wasn't worth a cool fight for me. They really need to do a better job getting writers who know the universe or just stop ****ing with the original stuff.

Just finished, but the Vader/Obi Wan duel was a shining light in an otherwise bad show. That one scene doesn't justify the whole thing, but man it was awesome.

Kind of like The Last Jedi though in that one storyline was awesome and the other one was terrible.

Also I refuse to fault a single actors performance in this series because of how awful the material and plot they had to work with was. This **** is on the writers and show runners not the actors.

There's a phony "look at me" quality to so many of these guys that's different from your standard reviewers or, say, the ScreenCrush hosts of the world. Sure, critics too can be obnoxious in other ways, but you know what I'm talking about. It's the neck beard nerd bro types who overreact for likes and views via the cheapest, easiest, laziest way to make a buck on YouTube.
