But we have no idea how common a name Skywalker is - on Tatooine or anywhere in the galaxy.
If there's a great actor named Fred Smith in Hollywood and 10 years later another good actor named George Smith, our first thought isn't "they're related."
In the *same* household, though? I'm just saying, Shmi was probably relatively well known too, and to risk ANY talk at all of there suddenly being a new Skywalker on the farm is pretty reckless, after one was tragically murdered by Tusken raiders, and the other went on to be a famous Jedi war hero.
Again, I just disagree. I doubt anyone even KNEW he left the planet, much less cared. He was just some rando slave kid.Quote:
The same kid who inexplicably won the big-deal pod race, leaving with the Jedi the very next day, would have FOR SURE been talked about, and the name "Skywalker" no doubt would have gained som notoriety in that part of Tatooine.
He thought through the prequels a hell of a lot more than anyone did in the sequels, I can tell you that right now.Quote:
It's almost like Ol' George didn't think all this through when he made the prequels.
The low bars you will set for the prequels to clear are quite amazingBrian Earl Spilner said:He thought through the prequels a hell of a lot more than anyone did in the sequels, I can tell you that right now.Quote:

TC: Claims to have no time to pitch a Star Wars script, but time enough to debate attendance numbers at the Boonta Eve Classic in 32 BBY.TCTTS said:
There were a sh*t ton of people at that pod race. Pretty massive crowd. And a human kid winning the whole damn thing would have been a big deal. Jedi in the area would have been news as well. The same kid who inexplicably won the big-deal pod race, leaving with the Jedi the very next day, would have FOR SURE been talked about, and the name "Skywalker" no doubt would have gained som notoriety in that part of Tatooine. That "same* Skywalker - Shmi's kid who won the pod race/left with the Jedi - becoming a war hero a decade+ later *also* would have likely been a thing. Especially after people learned that Shmi had been murdered.
I'm just saying, the name "Skywalker" was already out there, likely carried some weight, and was for sure *already* associated with Owen & Beru. To mysteriously add ANOTHER Skywalker to that mix was ill-advised at best.
Then again, the name "Luke Lars" is so bad, maybe Owen, Beru, and Obi-Wan decided it was worth the risk.
You won't need to have seen anything other than the prequels and originals.FincAg said:
I can't rattle off backstories like some of you guys on here, but I like fun movies. As a casual Star Wars fan is this going to be worth watching without having seen the animated stories like Clone Wars or Mandalorian, ect? We have seen the movies, including Solo and Rogue One.

I always thought it was Beru's terrible cooking. The Collective said:Ag Since 83 said:

Owen and Beru weren't actually murdered, it was just a tragic firework accident during an Empire Day party.
Silly me comparing them to other films in the same franchise.Ag Since 83 said:The low bars you will set for the prequels to clear are quite amazingBrian Earl Spilner said:He thought through the prequels a hell of a lot more than anyone did in the sequels, I can tell you that right now.Quote:

am I taking crazy pills? Ol' Georgie bear answered this succinctly and efficiently already as to why Vader wouldn't go to Tatooine:Ag Since 83 said:

And BTW, Anakin did visit the Lars moisture farm in Episode II. He knows it as the place his only relatives live. Absolutely horrific hiding place, just as it was in 2005.
I would like to think I'd remember if a chimpanzee or some other lower life form won the Daytona 500 fifteen years ago.redline248 said:
So now we're looking at like 15 years since little Ani won a single pod race? Unless you are one of the true hardcore fans, can you name who won Daytona 500 fifteen years ago?
Easy there kid.LPHA said:I would like to think I'd remember if a chimpanzee or some other lower life form won the Daytona 500 fifteen years ago.redline248 said:

I think because the size of the pod, he was the only kid with fast enough reflexes.LPHA said:
Didn't they say that humans don't do pod racing because it's too fast for them to comprehend or some **** like that?
