Unfortunately all too often in recent Star Wars we've seen where the storytelling doesn't know how to do a stand alone story, so they just shoehorn in Skywalkers. This gives them free nostalgia and the semblance of a connected story without much effort.Flashdiaz said:bobinator said:

Agree. They needed to get Ben off world and the only way he would leave Luke, is to save Leia.
Another part they fumbled was with the Inquisitors. Why have sith minions skilled with lightsabers if you're not going to have lightsaber battles with them?
I sincerely hope this all comes together in ep 5,6 but even if they're the greatest ever, it will feel rushed and wonder why it wasn't spread out more evenly.

Eh, I sort of agree in the sense that they aren't so much trying to capture a specific audience... but they sure as heck are trying to retcon the hell out of the socially outdated themes of the originals. Can't just have dudes saving the day all the time while the hot chicks just lay around looking hot... oh so very hot!!!
And in their attempts to fix this... to insert strong female characters into the universe... they decided they had to tamper with existing male heroes and they made a giant mess of it!

according this very short youtube video (and this guy seems legit i've seen a lot of his stuff) they are going to do a theatrical release in some areas for the episode 6 release, showing all 6 episodes at once and he's stated that the clock in total run time is 5 hours, 20 minutes.....that caught my attention.
i did the math and for each episode of kenobi you have to take out roughly 8 minutes per episode for end credits and episode recaps at the beginning.....so......
after i did that and subtracted the total episode watch time from the total of 5 hours, 20 minutes, i got a remaining amount of 171 minutes....now.....there will still be credits for this big viewing and all that but they make it sound like everything will be cut together to be like an actual movie.....
SO......
if that's the case then that means we should be having 2 PRETTY DANG LONG EPISODES LEFT HERE.....
i checked IMDB.com as well as disney + and they dont have the episode length for 5 out yet so hoping the math works out here and we've still got a lot to see

Look, Star Wars has almost always been turn your brain off sci-fi. The storyline not making any sense or the actors being bad isn't a new issue.
The real issue is that Obi Wan is being a little soy boy beta *****. Same reason people didn't like Hayden Christensen in the prequels. Same reason we didn't like Boba Fett. The main character is a whiner.

Plot question:
Looking forward to E5! At this point, this show is an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 for me.
- Ice Cube's immediate about face after he's protested helping the entire time we've seen him. Literally changes his mind mid sentence while pushing back on Kenobi. Ok.
- The primary weapon of a Stormtrooper is a laser gun. Empire builds a base below water. Installs glass susceptible to laser gun blasts under water. Smrt.
- No water makes it through door when Tarla shuts it even though that would have been impossible.
- Tarla bonking Stormtroopers on helmet knocks them out. Not sure if there has ever been a bigger failure in design than Stormtrooper armor. Can't deflect anything, can't see anything....and now highly susceptible to open hand slaps that lead to concussion.
- The trench coat scene. You have to be ****ting me.
- I can almost guarantee you emphasizing hovering Snowspeeders was a makeup call because the initial attack run they made shows them flying inside an enclosed bay and straight at the back wall. There is no way they can pull out of that. Scene cuts away. How the hell did they survive that? Next time you see them one somehow has made it back outside and crash lands and the other one is floating like a helicopter taking point blank shots at Reva.
- The three most powerful characters in the Empire behind Vader and the Emperor have yet to still do anything but growl at Reva, walk around, and shy away from Vader. They have no point.
- Still no f'ing Star Wars music with three of the biggest characters ever in this universe on one screen. By simply having SW music this show would have been much better. Key moments would have had much more oomph. This show will be a business case lesson in failure with the score decision.
Plot question:
- Did we know that Leia knows about the Path, who they are, and where to find them? Maybe that was covered and I forgot about it?

Also, as someone else said if these shows were going to be this bad they should have just done them all as animation and only have live action movies.
I think we are just supposed to know she has some general knowledge about it b/c Tala (or whatever her name is) was telling all about it to Obi-Wan in the previous episode. I think, at the very least, she knew the name of the planet to which they were supposed to go.Quote:

Except... Kenobi's lightsaber bounces off their armor in one scene.
That's a production error, a lightsaber would cut right through just like that saber gate did.
He set the lightsaber to "stun" instead of "slice"
Speaking of lightsabers, it seems like there is some excessive sparking compared to what I remember. At least vs the OT

Great twist, incredible Vader, before I crash for 5 hours, the best acting Hayden did was staring up at the departed ship and unable to keep his rage and frustration from showing through the helmet, he was shaking and it makes Vader look weak. I will be watching Vader s complete eviscerated of the third sister for a long, long time.

I enjoyed this episode too. Certainly fits in with Screen Crush's theory of Kenobi episodes matching up with the 1-6 Movies. Had a very Empire feel to it.
The make up during the Ani and Obi sparring session was pretty bad. lol Nice to see Hayden again though.
Liked Vader pulling down the ship.
Reva's plan....you waited a little to late to sneak up on him. Probably should of done it when he was force holding a ship.
Liked seeing Vader not need a lightsaber to fight. Moved like Neo from the Matrix. That was fun.

I've engaged in countless arguments on this board, in favor of diversity in casting, but this is almost certainly an instance when it's going to work to a disadvantage; where we know almost beyond a shadow of a doubt *how* they're going to use her, and thus what the limitations of the character will be. You want to be truly progressive, *actually* cast her as the main villain. And who knows, maybe they'll surprise us, but I seriously doubt it.
