Just saw a video posted by Star Wars Theory over two hours long for breaking down the Kenobi trailer.

A 2 hour breakdown session for a 2 minute trailer for a show that's expected expected runtime is 4.5-6 hours.

That's crazy, right?

Yeah, that dude weirds me out. I'm well aware of how seriously we take this sh*t, compared to most people, but that guy is in a league of his own. He's like a dour, no-nonsense pastor/biblical scholar, giving Very Important YouTube Talks... except it's Star Wars. As if the Force is a real, actual thing, and the souls of mankind hang in the balance.

I haven't watched his stuff, but I'd wager that there are 5-7 people here who could talk about that trailer for 2 hours; the guy just seemed myopic in the fact that people don't need to hear everything he can think of about it.

There is zero chance I would have kept my cam on & stayed through that CF. How many fans are even interacting through Discord? Hilarious the level of hubris that can be assumed from that discussion, and that first guy just seems butthurt that he isn't representing their little corner of the fan base. The fact that he had been thinking about it for a long time, presented such a terrible argument to Theory, & then immediately backed down under the slightest resistance is hilarious to me.

And, now, I am going to rethink my life for a) watching it and b) discussing it with strangers.

While I agree that he takes this too seriously (even for me), I do enjoy watching his reactions just because of how much he loves the prequels.

I will say it's kinda funny to me that he hates TLJ so much but did a good review of Rise of Skywalker. A movie that has SO many more problems to me.

But yeah the first kid in that video comes off like a soft and whiny *****, and the quotes he kept throwing out were cringey af.

I don't love 8, but it also feels like a real movie to me. I can enjoy most of it even with the stuff I dislike.

9 just feels like "things happening" in quick succession to force that final battle scene. It's hard to explain, but I can feel the strings moving along the plot in a way I never could in any Star Wars movie.

That one Anti-Trilogy video that I posted a while back did such an amazing job at laying out what each of those movies did, in a pretty in-depth analysis. It's an amazing watch.

That quote is from ROTS. But yeah, it landed with a thud, which is pretty funny. Even SWT was having none of it.

8 and 9 are.bad movies for different reasons


Critics love 8 but I hate it because it basically a massive girl power movie. The only male character not to be shown what to do by a woman is the "bad guy" Kylo.

9 is just disjointed mess that had to take what 7 intended and put it back after the stupid 8.

9 was just a horrible continuation of 8.

They destroyed a lot of my enthusiasm for the franchise and that's impressive since it is my first love. So bad that I've only ever watched them once which is insane for me to think about. They had a shinier and more well acted exterior vs the prequels but the story is just horrible.

So many things that were just bad and didn't make any sense.

If we're having a 7,8,9 bash fest on the Kenobi thread….

They're all "decent" movies individually. The fact that they didn't seem to communicate one coherent storyline was the problem. It felt like RJ was caught off guard by things in 7 and pivoted when he directed 8 … and then JJ re-pivoted back from 8-9 and had to wrap up about twice as much as any movie should have to.

The fundamental flaw was the lack of a clear vision and strategy from the start and team buy in to execute to that plan.

The fundamental flaw was Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 and insisted on Christmas 2015, 2017, and 2019 releases. The boardroom demanded the creative product on schedule, quality be damned, because quarterly numbers had to be met.

At least The Force Awakens had some cool scenes in it. I can't think of a single scene from the other two that just made me happy to see.

At least, with all the bad we got from Disney, we did get Rogue One... so not all lost.
