Combined with people giving me sh*t a few days ago, as if I were waiting with bated breath to hate it/pounce on it every Wednesday after midnight, when that couldn't be further from the truth, I simply felt the need to say something, that's all.

I only remember it because it's like the only thing in the history of the Star Wars universe recorded on video other than like personal messages.

Definitely felt like canceling recently since marvel and Star Wars shows have been underwhelming along with the political climate

I think it's an objectively bad show from a storytelling and cinematography standpoint.

I do think, the last episode especially, you can get some enjoyment out of it if you just go in accepting that and do you best not to care.

Like sneaking Leia out under his jacket is stupid, but if you choose to look at it as a meta-bit about the trope of how incompetent the empire is, then it's kind of funny.

Have only watched though 3 episodes so far so stopped reading when E4 came out on Wednesday.

But I can't believe how bad this show sucks. It's just shocking and depressing. At this point, I'm finishing it just to see if they can somehow redeem this show in next few episodes.

Two things in E3 I haven't seen listed:
1. At beginning when Leia is whining to Kenobi about making the ship go faster. And he says he can't because it's a trade route. Well can't you use the force? It doesn't work that way.

And then literally about 4 seconds later the arrival signal goes off. So she gets all antsy with her "how much longer?!" kid routine about 20 seconds from arrival. Why he didn't he just tell her they were about 20 seconds from arrival when she was whining? Lol.

2. Very end of the episode and Leia ducks back into tunnel and runs from Reva. Wife and I immediately looked at one another and did a Vader "NNOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Another f'ing Leia chase scene to kick off E4??!! Lol. Can't wait to see if they actually do that.

What was up with that weird convo between Ben and O'Shea Jackson? He's adamant about not getting involved and then all of the sudden is like "ok, I'll help"

I think he said he had married someone who was Force Sensitive and that the Empire came for her and took her. That scene seemed like it had been edited way down though because it was definitely a quick turnaround.

Still holding out hope that they have a secret base on Felucia that they have to evacuate really quickly so that Ice Cube Jr. can blast off the surface and say, "Bye, Felucia."

Had no idea that was his son, but I did immediately think 'that guy looks like Ice Cube' during the episode. Add it to the list of things that make me feel old!

It might not be your thing, but if you ever watch Straight Outta Compton, he plays his dad in that movie and you feel from the first moment like they just de-aged Cube.

I'm pretty sure it was addressed but just had this thought….

Who the hell was Wade? Did I miss something from earlier was this a character we were introduced to that I just can't recall?

Who was Wade and why should I care that he's dead?

Wade and the female pilot were introduced during the part when they were talking about how to infiltrate the Inquisitor base. Reading between the lines it looked like they were involved romantically, or at least close. So for the pilot that survived - Sully, it's the the thrill of scoring a victory against the Empire tempered by the loss of someone close to you, pretty much what the Rebels have to live with over and over again,

Yeah, all of these plot failures being pointed out were pretty glaring. It was pretty horrible. I finally watched it, basically out of morbid curiosity. What a wasted opportunity

I thought the highlight of the show was when he finally used his saber to take down a couple storm troopers and did his little Lightsaber flick spin move that he made popular in Phantom Menace. It was a "OK, here we go!" moment which kicked off a few minutes of his character coming back to life.

And then a bit later, escaping the hanger he's back to using blasters as his weapon of choice. Ugh!

Finally caught up. So much disappointment. Almost just wish they made this a feature film so we could see the high production value it deserves and a better story that isn't situated around episodic climaxes.

As stated earlier, I think some kind of mask or heavy makeup would help Reva seem more menacing. Her acting sure doesn't help, but I kind of feel bad for her that she is given the first female role of a "bad ass" sith type in a live action SW setting and she has to sell it all with just her natural face and acting with no real costume added character.

The best SW has done with a female menacing character is Captain Phasma and the costume really helped with that even though so did her size.

What I really was hoping from this show after finding out that Vader would be a key role in it would be that it would have a lot of crazy saber and force battles. Hell the Reva vs the Grand Inquisitor could have been really cool, but it just ends up being a quick stab and its over. The Kenobi vs Vader fight was the best the show had to offer so far and it was even meh.

So much amazing potential continually wasted in this show.

I think the only thing that will keep me watching is hoping that they eventually get to an amazing Vader vs Kenobi battle. Perhaps like on GoT, all the cheaper production short cuts will pay off with a massive battle scene that makes it worth it.

Found this and listened as background noise at work earlier... hits on most of the common sense "why!?" issues we have mentioned with the show, but it's an enjoyable video because he's not whining about it.

Quote:

Young males don't want to see a series about Kenobi babysitting a ten year old girl. Young to teenage girls don't care about SW (for the most part), especially a series about some old fart Jedi from the 70's. I just can't figure out what audience they think they are targeting this for.
Just my opinion, but I think the current leadership at Lucasfilm is focusing heavily on young females and isn't focusing nearly as much about reaching young male audiences. I think that could be said for Disney in general right now, especially when you look at many of the new Marvel series and new MCU films. And I absolutely loved WandaVision and Hawkeye...the way they developed Wanda and Kate Bishop left me wanting more...those were home run efforts. Other things haven't been as impressive.

Back to SW, I actually liked what they tried to do with Ep7 and Ep9. Rey wasn't a bad character and Daisy Ridley did a good job. I think TLJ was a mess, but there were still some great moments. But it was clear from those newer films they were trying really hard to appeal more to a female audience with the characters they introduced and elements of the storylines. Even in the Disney+ Star Wars shows, it's obvious they are trying to create more prominent female characters.

Again, some good and some bad.

On the surface, I don't mind it at all. They've done some good things. But there are times when, like you, I feel like they're more focused on a formula than the quality of the storyline.

My point isn't about the casting of female characters, including leads. My point is that so much of this series is just too childish. You can attract younger men and women with strong female characters (see Rogue One) but you're going to quickly turn off the male audience (of all ages) with Ben Kenobi's Daddy Day Care.

I get it. But I think the young Leia storyline is intended to appeal to the younger female audience.

While we are looking at South Park comparisons, would it be fair to say that Butters has a better grasp of the criminal underworld than bounty hunter Boba Fett?

I think y'all are ascribing too much "trying to appeal to" intent to the Leia storyline. Disney doesn't need to create a story inside an Obi Wan Kenobi TV show specifically to attract young female viewers when they have *waves hand at everything else Disney.*

I don't think they wrote this with some kind of master plan to appeal to some mysterious audience, I think this is just the best they could come up with and it sucks.

Agree. They needed to get Ben off world and the only way he would leave Luke, is to save Leia.

Another part they fumbled was with the Inquisitors. Why have sith minions skilled with lightsabers if you're not going to have lightsaber battles with them?

I sincerely hope this all comes together in ep 5,6 but even if they're the greatest ever, it will feel rushed and wonder why it wasn't spread out more evenly.
