This show is pretty ****ty honestly. The whole concept of having a 10 year old Leia being kidnapped is just really stupid. Yet another horrendous wasted opportunity. Who is writing all of this dumb **** and who is evaluating it and being like "yeah, that sounds great. Green light"? Boba Fett was terrible. This one is terrible. The entire new trilogy was terrible.

Rogue One in my mind wasn't meant for mass appeal. The rest of the recent SW films are which is why they fail on a fundamental plot stand point. Mass appeal and money will unfortunately only give us a sub .200 batting average when it comes to decent SW movies and TV.

All sw are meant for mass appeal. They aren't making niche films here.

Maybe the reason they're not using JW's music is it's hard to sell and make money on music that's been available for 30-40 years? I would hope not, but corporatism has reared its ugly head in the SW universe before.

Ranger fans you're not dreaming! The Rangers are the World Series Champions!

I think it's simpler than that, each one of these shows tries to create its own sound. The Mandalorian succeeded pretty well. It just doesn't work for this show because you expect certain music associated with these characters. Needed to keep it simpler for this show. But that's kind of true across the board with this show.

I often use my kids as barometers on evaluating certain entertainment media. Both are boys ages 13 and 16. Both of them were definitely interested in seeing Kenobi. Quick overview of their response so far.

16 year old: Stop watching, didn't know this was a kid's show. It's pretty lame dad.

13 year old: It's ok but pretty dumb actually. Probably won't finish it.

This is what I don't get. This is their key demographic. It's one thing if old SW nerds like myself don't care for it but if they lose the young to teenage male audience, they're killing themselves. Young males don't want to see a series about Kenobi babysitting a ten year old girl. Young to teenage girls don't care about SW (for the most part), especially a series about some old fart Jedi from the 70's. I just can't figure out what audience they think they are targeting this for.

Have it to where no one (even inquisitors) knows vaders real name.

She's already met Owen, I can't remember if he said his last name or not. If not add it in.

They know that Vader wants obi Wan, but they just figure it's bc he and Yoda are the only living members of the jedi council.

In the 3rd episode when Vader shows up, obi Wan sees this bad ass sith lord but doesn't know its anakin. During their fight, Vader mentions how rusty obi Wan has gotten since he quartered him and left him to die. Obi Wan then has the flashback to anakin crying in the lava, and says "Anakin....skywalker?" third sister is listening from the shadows and realizes the possible connection to Owen, but she recapture Leia, so puts it off for later.

After they escape again in episode 4, you can have 3rd sister go rogue and return to tatooine where the final showdown is over Luke. She doesn't tell anyone else where she is going, so when obi Wan eventually kills her, Luke's secret is still safe from the empire.

For this to work though, Luke would have to be unconscious, in Carbonite, or have his memory force-wiped, so he doesn't remember it in episode 4.

I liked some of your thoughts/ideas but I think it's pretty well established that force users can recognize each other's presence. So I think Obi-Wan would know it was him and not some random badass in armor.
I do like the idea of playing around with obi wan hearing about Vader, and how horrible he is,more. Then having their initial meeting be more impactful as he realizes in the moment that Vader is Anakin

Not at all. His character and the original Grand Inquisitor have both been way richer than Reva.

I don't think that's accurate; they seem to be much more in pursuit of younger female viewers since 2015.

The hero of the sequel trilogy was Rey
The hero of Rogue One was Jin
The biggest draw of Mando for most people is Grogu, 10000% on the cuteness factor
The biggest shining jewel in their crown right now is Rosario Dawson as Ahoska.

I just watched the final 4 episodes of the animated Clone Wars series, and all I could think of is how come Obi-Wan isn't written this well? Those were compelling and logical stories that incorporated famous characters in each episode. I just don't understand how Disney cannot knock an Obi-Wan series out of the park. This setting with these characters should have been a damned layup, yet it still comes out flat and not as good as it should be.

Yikes I've stayed away from this thread or any internet pub til I was able to catch up.

Far and away the ONLY redeeming quality is the Vader/Obi-Wan dueling. Well, it is also not completely set on Tatooine, so that's a positive as well.

I truly want to like this show because Ewan was great in the prequels, probably the only thing that was good about the prequels.

This show is just poorly put together. The CGI looks more like something from the sci fi channel. Reva is terrible and smacks of DEI garbage. So much other stuff to rail on, but it has mostly been covered.

Oh, the moon of Nur is pretty cool, but I'm a sucker for ocean worlds. I don't like that Vader was burnt up in Mustafar and basically decided to chillax there and set up base.

I'm saying nothing like this could work because Obi Wan has known Vader is Anakin the whole time.

This was part of why I had a hard time with the end of the second episode. I never considered that Obi Wan still had no idea that Vader lived and I'm not sure I like it. You can make it make sense but that means Obi Wan is REALLY not paying any attention to the outside world.

Well, at least they are giving Obi-Wan his mojo back and gave us some cool moments. But the show is still really lacking in a lot of way.

Some of the attention to detail in the writing/directing is ridiculous. The whole fire scene with Vadar just watching as they slowly carry Obi-Wan to safety as if he couldn't force push/pull/choke all of them is beyond lazy... hiding Leia inside a trench coat... having Reva deflect speeder blasts at point blank range. Just way too much crap that is so blatantly obvious your brain can't help scream "hold on a second"... kills the immersion. And all are things they could have fixed/avoided.

With regards to Reva... they really should have given her some sort of facial apparatus or something. The best Star Wars villains in the movies or video games have all used masks, cyber enhancements, alien features, etc to help them be more menacing. And it's worked extremely well. Having her be a straight up human with an attitude does absolutely nothing for the character.

Disney going on about the toxic fanbase only highlights their failures. Sorry Disney, but most of us really liked Lando, Rey, Leia, Mace Windu, etc.... it has nothing to do with Reva's gender or skin color.

PS: And while I'm on the subject... if they make more seasons of Boba Fett, have him put his damn mask back on too. Friggin A, he wouldn't just walk around with it tucked under his arm 3/4 of the time!

I ONLY have watched the origianl REAL star wars movies..in the original release order. And the manolorians. I am loving this series and am not one to cross reverence with every one of the added short things ever made. Some people over think. I saw the original in theatre when it was first made and loved it then. I read most of the spin off books that were published..back before you had a million spin off films. My son had just about all the toys...from the original three movies.

But to cross reference every tiny detail is to me over thinking. Just relax and enjoy. Remember I saw the originals with no real back story..learned who Luke's dad was with the rest of the planet. In film order that was a well kept secret and I am so glad I did not watch in number order.

I didn't really give Revenge of the Sith many rewatches, so I guess I forgot about the 'holocam review' where he happens to call him Lord Vader on a recording (GREAT WRITING)

You're right, the whole plot point makes no sense, but it would have been good if that scene didn't exist in the movies.

Put his mask on, and then a stunt double can do the fight scenes and they wont suck

Maybe he has been so cut off from society in an effort to stay hidden he had no idea Vader lived through their fight?

Yeah this is what I'm talking about. You can justify it. He's staying isolated, cut himself off from the force, etc. etc.

But that is WAY out of the loop.

The best way I've justified it in my head is that he willingly ignores learning info on the outside world because he doesn't want to be tempted to leave Luke.

This show sucks. And this is how we deal with it, by venting each week. We all wanted it to be great. It isn't.

I'm sorry that rubs you the wrong way.

On the whole, across this forum, I praise all sorts of things, week after week, the second an episode airs/I get home from a movie, just as much as I bash this show... Top Gun: Maverick, We Own This City, Better Call Saul, Minx, Severance, Peacemaker... I could go on and on.

We like what we like. We don't like what we don't like. And that's what this message board is for... expressing both of those opinions, either as a way to process our excitement/appreciation, or as a way to vent when something falls short.

This, unfortunately, is the latter. In pretty tragic fashion, IMO.

I posted a gif of the muppets and you respond with a 150-word rebuttal.

You guys not liking Obi-Wan Kenobi is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy down the list of problems I have with the good people of TexAgs.

I think this show is ****ing awesome, and I will continue to say so. Unlike President Thomas Whitmore and the aliens, we can find a way to co-exist.
