Yep. I don't see why they didn't make sure the baddies look right.

Funnily enough didn't notice that but thought the CGI looked weird when he was sitting outside the entrance to his cave. Only thing I noticed.

The plastic chest protector? Yeah, that was bad

What's frustrating is out this is how far the spectrum has flipped. In ESB, they needed a slick, gambler, borderline pimp character, so they turn to a good-looking black guy if the day. Unless they would have used Snoop, that may be viewed as offensive today.

Now, they need a bad guy and someone says 'Disney is so woke, they won't make a black woman bad,' and we says 'that's plausible.'

I've been expecting either Leia or Reva to look into the camera and say something like, "I love science" or "I'm into math and working on droids". That's probably the effect of watching the live action Dumbo or Wrinkle in Time.

Enjoyable so far

Biggest complaint was the chase scene of the princess

Watched last night. Got what I wanted out of it, which was Star Wars.

Things I loved:
Obi Wan
Tatooine
Owen Lars
Jawa
Vader in the bacta tank
Leia
Obi Wan's theme music
Alderaan
Order 66

Things I didn't like as much:
Third sister
Cousin interaction
Chase scenes with Leia

I loved all the Order 66 stuff. There was an immediate emotional impact on seeing that from a perspective different than what we've seen in ROTS. And continuing with the callbacks to the prequels, I loved the line Obi Wan says to little Leia, "you remind me of someone". Ewan MacGregor proves why he was the best part of the prequels with his conveyance of emotion toward thinking back to those times.

The interaction between Owen and Obi Wan was nails. It points directly to that early scene in Star Wars when Owen curtly tells Luke, "that wizard's just a crazy old man" or something like that.

Obi Wan's job on Tatooine was an interesting look at daily life on the desert planet that was never really hinted at in any earlier works.

Agree w/ you on everything except I am going to hold my judgement on Third Sister until the end of the series but yea not looking good.

Frankly, everyone wants more of the Order 66 .. heck they can make a series call Order 66 and follow a Jedi trying to survive after the Order is giving.. trying to keep hope alive until it's not.
They actually have. It's just that's in a video game called Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Since you're so old, you won't care about that most likely.
Lol.. I love Fallen Order and was playing it with my sons earlier today. Great game and would make an even greater tv series.

How many times have we said this about video games.
I made a mistake w/ Wing Commander.. but Halo and Witcher has given me hope on video game movies.

Watched them both last night and my only real complaint was no Qui-Gonn. They made such a point of it at the end of E3 that Kenobi would learn to talk to the force ghost. It's 10 years and the impression is he has failed at it. I would have like Qui-Gonn to pop in and tell Kenobi to get his butt in gear.

Have to think we'll see that later on, when Obi-Wan really needs it.

I got the sense that he has "cut himself off from the force" and after using it to save Leia he kicks it back in gear.

$5 says this is coming in the 3rd episode….he now knows anikan is alive and in the first episode Obiwan says quigons name a few times.

He's going to be looking for guidance on the boy who quigon insisted he train that turned into darth vader

Don't know if this has been addressed but I just thought of this while watching revenge of the sith….

How does Reva know that capturing Leia will draw out Obiwan? Anikan doesn't know he has kids so what connection exists that the empire knows about between Leia and Obiwan?

The connection was between Bail Organa and Obi-wan. She has no idea who Leia is beyond Bail's daughter.

All I know is I may be even more hyped for ep 3 than I was before the first episode.

If not Qui-Gon, well definitely get some Vader/Anakin. You don't put that tease in and don't pay it off.

Do we get rematch #1? (Of the 2.) I'm thinking not, but wouldn't be surprised if it ends with Vader and Obi-Wan face to face.

I'm thinking the first encounter will be Obi-Wan searching for Vader to try to turn him back. (Ties right into ROTJ, with Vader's line "Obi-Wan once thought as you did", as well as being the last thing Padme ever said to him.)

Don't know how that will go but after that, it'll be Vader chasing Obi-Wan down until their final encounter.

Don't quite know how Reva will play into it from here on out. But she obviously has some deeper connection with Vader that's yet to be revealed.

The storyline is solid, unlike BoBF which was largely a disaster until the last few episodes. I have the same gripes as everyone else…. But it has loads of potential.

I am hoping that the wooden actress playing Reva gets some scenes with Hayden Christianson. That'll be riveting with meme potential.

They should have just casted Zoe Saldaña for the Reva role. She's basically already played the character type.

It would have been good to have a scene where the Grand Inquisitor and the Asian Inquisitor are having a side conversation about not really digging the Third Sister's vibe but going way out of their way to point out that it isn't racist at all, just a reflection on her performance.
That scene really needs to happen. All of the other Inquisitors are painted white, even if they're not "white". It's so obvious and ham handed I'm astonished there hasn't been more criticism of it.

Finally caught up.

It has been okay so far. It's cool seeing Owen, Luke, and Leia. Third Sister sucks, and her running the rooftops was way over the top. Grand Inquisitor was pretty cheesy as well. Hopefully now that Obi-Wan has used the force and was willing to use a lightsaber we will see some good action pick up.

The biggest win is I got my wife to watch it with me, and she has never seen (or wanted to see) any Star Wars movies or shows.

Saw some discussion that it is likely that the third sister is the young padawan that escapes in the open scene

What's going to be interesting to me is how fluid Vader is going to look fighting...or not. Anyone that watched Rebels or played Fallen Order got to see his true mind blowing force/fighting potential.

I don't see how they can do that here unless they go full CGI Yoda fighting.

She clearly resents how she is treated as a sister. But maybe we get a flashback and she looks in a room and sees Anakin marching with troopers and killing younglings. Maybe she knows of his connection to Obi wan and despises how he failed Anakin that out her through that trauma

Yes, seems obvious to me. It's the easy redemption path that is clearly at play here and the fact that the GI called her gutter trash means her origins are suspect to them. Origins = Jedi Academy

Her origins would have to be outside of the academy because they were both Jedi before Order 66.

Moreso than other film entries, but not even comparable to Rebels or Fallen Order. However, those are both animation so there is really no way to hit that level unless they do CGI.

Kenobi takes place 10 years after revenge of the sith…..there's no way Reva is a child during order 66 and now this old seeing how only 10 years has passed

The kids at the start looked around 6-8 years old, no? I think she could easily pass for 18.

I looked up her age and she's 29 so that's too bad actually….I was thinking she was a good bit older and say if in the flashback she's 10 years old then that'd make her 20 so ok it works

Yeah, this is probably too literal of a take. She could play an 18 yr old.

Chalamant in Dune is 25 IRL and playing a 15 yr old.

Awesome first two episodes.
Loved the wide establishing shots on Tatooine. Reminded me of the cinematography from the original Star Wars.
I'm enjoying how they establish Reva and the Inquisitors as being at odds. It will be a much more interesting chase that way.
Absolutely love 10-year-old Leia. It's such a fun glimpse into that character's development and I somehow wasn't expecting her to be in this show at all.
Fun alien and city design on the new planet.
The idea of a con-man pretending to be a Jedi was great fun, and I enjoyed seeing him turn out to be good. A scoundrel, but a good scoundrel - feels like we haven't seen that in Star Wars in a while.
Thanks and gig'em

I'm interested to see if we only get Vader in this show. It seems like you have to see Anakin flashabacks at some point, and maybe it's possible one of those flashbacks is when we see how the Inquisitors were gathered/found.
