Phantom menace is smiling. Post Jedi Lucas was blasted for how bad it was but the history made it endure. If this is purposely a throwback to the "good old days" pretending phantom menace was worth repeating…episodes one and most of two were justifiably panned at the time. You're fooling yourselves if you suddenly think they needed to be repeated.

Some fans just badly want anything Star Wars to be good, to the point that they lower their standard reeeeaaaaaally low. Truth is that everything made after the original trilogy has been as much miss as hit. Not ruling Kenobi out already but yeah episode 1 was disappointing for sure.

Everything about young Leia reminded me of young Spock at the Vulcan science academy for youths or whatever it was. When the other kid taunts him for having a human mother and he comes back with his intelligent retort.
Her performance seemed to be modeled after that.
Chase scene, especially the forest one, was bad. Just have her get captured and move on with it.
Y'all can for sure enjoy whatever. I'm bummed because I wanted to enjoy it more but the production value is just poor so far. There are enough redeeming qualities to keep me invested, just hope it gets better.
FTR, I'm not ruling this show as a failure. It just had some F- scenes and directing in it. Still looking forward to the rest of it.

It would have been good to have a scene where the Grand Inquisitor and the Asian Inquisitor are having a side conversation about not really digging the Third Sister's vibe but going way out of their way to point out that it isn't racist at all, just a reflection on her performance.
I think the simple fact that Third Sister is/looks human is why they will redeem her. That was a calculated decision because we can relate to her. It's easy to write off the other three as evil and unredeemable because while humanoid they are alien looking and thus..."not real" and not relatable.

I like how when Star Wars wants to establish that an old hero is jaded and washed up they're going to have you doing something menial like milking walrusmen or carving meat out of a giant dead insect. They can never just be a space receptionist or insurance salesman like real jaded adults.

They should have made the Third Sister a Togruta. An anti-Ahsoka would have added depth to the character and further justified Obi Wan's PTSD.

The villains that wanted the trade franchise were very unattractive and had a whole "Japanese sneakily planning Pearl Harbor" vibe.
Darth Maul - not a WASP human, so bad guy.
Jar Jar and all of the Gungans - Rastafarian vibe and not very intelligent.

Yep. When I rewatch 456 I see how heavy handed Lucas was w/corny dialogue and acting. That's fine though because I grew up w/it and didn't realize how Lucas writes until I was older.
I love what they did w/Rogue One, Mandalorian, Boba Fett, etc.
SW1 and SW2 were horrible because Lucas still directed and his style didn't translate to the times. 3 was his 'broken clock is right' moment but really only towards the end. The battle scene and wrapping up the transition for Anakin made it.

I just don't see how this director is supposed to be a 'savior'. Her Mando episodes were good, but this has erased that good will.
Reva can act, but you wouldn't know it from this show. Leia (adorable and her dialogue is great) is actually 10 but she looks and moves like 5 year old. The 5th brother looks like a constipated BD Wong birthing a 15lb turd. The inquisitors outfits look like trash bags w/a steering wheel strapped to their backs. And for F's sake as mentioned the roof scene....the Watchowski's called, they'd have given a good rate to tape Reva's face on Trinity's head and it still would have looked better.

Agree with the criticisms on the third sister. I thought she was the weakest part of the show. In fact, my girlfriend and I literally laughed out loud at a few of her one liners that were supposed to be "badass" or ominous. The delivery was flat and laughable.
I can look past it though - it's Disney, we're gonna have to deal with this stuff.

Watched it and thought it was meh outside of the lightsaber action. This show has too much Kathleen Kenedy influence I'm afraid. They rest of the show will likely be just as bad.

Finally caught up and I'm amazed at the amount of time we've already wasted in this show.
I hear your complaint, but isn't it kind of exciting that we've gotten all the setup out of the way, and almost all of the trailer shots have already been seen?
I think it's gonna really kick into high gear from here. I also wouldn't be surprised if we see Leia returned to Alderaan by next episode and that thread is resolved. I don't think she'll factor into the meat of the season going forward.
