Maybe Aegon is going to be like a Jeffrey and be cruel to women when he figures out what to do with his peen.
Wasn't Joffrey asexual? We never saw him do anything sexual, which is actually kind of odd considering his age. I guess we were meant to interpret that him killing Ros with the crossbow was the only thing that did it for him.

Well, he probably takes after his parents and only got turned on by his little sister (or maybe brother). Good thing he wasn't around long enough for us to find out

Who gives a flying **** what childbirth sounds like? And how many of you have actually attended a birth with no epidural? This question is rhetorical, I honestly don't care that all of you are about to say you haveā€¦ the looking for every little detail that you don't like makes this thread insufferable.

'Lets turn childbirth into a prolonged spaghetti bowl haunted house gag to emphasize that marriages are the battlefield' is being defended here as good filmmaking!?

Look no one here made a big deal out of it, just joked about it because it was distractingly and laughably absurd. I personally noticed how long these scenes were and how many stupid slurping noises were going on, thought it was dull and absurd, and fast forwarded through through them.

You know how its easy to tell a poorly made film scene? When most people who have a remote handy fast forward through it.

I didnt even bother to comment on it here till now, but i have to reply to all these offended posts attacking the people here who did point it out.

Most people think that was either disturbing, gross, distracting, or amusingly bad film work.

You can disagree, but attacking people on a message board for having more common sense about it seems a bit much.

A few posts about it is fine. Multiple pages is ridiculous. And honestly anything you comment on turns into a **** fest because you are so damn defensive and you can't allow anyone to disagree with you without getting the last word in and damn near everyone disagrees with you just because you are a terrible poster. Ignoring you is ineffective because so many idiots engage to tell you what a bad poster you are.

These arguments only go on for pages because both sides feel compelled to continue arguing about it. You can't continually argue with someone's opinion and then get mad at them for arguing back. If you want the argument to stop, then stop arguing.

For some reason the scene where the dragon's fly by the Pentos onlookers has been cracking me up all week. Something about how they turn around twice and that guy's facial expression both times. It's clearly all green-screen work and not very convincing at that.

By the way, regarding the whole "Targaryans are immune to fire" line of thinking... Laena has her dragon spew a great, big fireball and she flies around it. Daemon and his dragon fly right through the middle of it.

Laena = Valyrion (only mom was Targ)
Daemon = Targaryan (both parents were Targs)

Maybe being fire-proof is a genetic trait that is recessive and you need TWO genes to get it. Doesn't mean that both your parents have to be Targaryans but both your parents must have Targ bloodlines... and even then it is a genetic crapshoot.

I noticed that too. With Dany her clothes burned and with Daemon they didn't. Would prefer consistency but also don't care to see Daemon naked so for that reason the inconsistency didn't bother me much.

Danny sat in a funeral pyre hot enough to burn Drogo's body. Daemon just flew through the flames for a few seconds. His clothes might have burned had he sat in the fire for a long time. They appeared to be leather, too, which would be more fire-resistant than cloth

Fun lore trivia:

Daenerys has a significant amount of blood of the First Men in her family tree through House Blackwood. She also may actually be related to the Starks in general, not just Jon.

Aegon V - Daenerys' great-grandfather - was born in 200 AC and died in 259 AC at the Tragedy of Summerhall.

Aegon V married Betha Blackwood in 220AC when she was 19, which puts her birthdate in 201 AC.

We also know of a person called Melantha Blackwood, who was grandmother of Rickard Stark and great-grandmother to Ned, Lyanna, Brandon, and Benjen, but no dates for her birth and death.

Some message board nerds did the math based on known birthdates (Brandon, Ned, etc.) and calculated that Melantha's birthdate would have likely fallen between 204 and 223 AC. Since the Targaryens and Starks were both major families and unlikely to marry some scrub Blackwood from way down the family tree, it's possible that Betha and Melantha were either sisters or cousins (or possibly aunt/niece).

This means that if Melantha and Betha were sisters, Rhaegar and Ned would have been third cousins.

Melantha - Edwyle - Rickard - Ned
Betha - Jaehaerys II - Aerys - Rhaegar

Aegon V and Betha's children married each other - Jaehaerys II and Shaera - and their children - Aerys and Rhaella - married each other, and had Daenerys, Rhaegar and Viserys - which means Dany is still basically half Blackwood.

Also the little exchange between Rhanerya and Vicerys - "I hope the labor wasn't too difficult" - "I think I called the midwife a ****" had me chuckling as well. Hope the writers keep putting in a few of these funny moments in each episode. And I hope next season we get a tyrion type character that is full of satire.

Congratulations. My first at bat on varsity in high school I hit a home run, do you think that is a relevant sample size to extrapolate my statistics for my career? Yeah, so again it was a rhetorical question not meant to be answered because no one gives a **** about your life experience and how that translates to a tv show but thanks for sharing.

I like threads where a bunch of male fantasy nerds are discussing appropriate child birthing noises and facial expressions.

And probably haven't witnessed childbirth in person.

I have and it's messy and gross and there are disgusting noises and smells and thats in a sterile modern facility. I can only imagine in medieval times.

I damn near passed out the second time because I thought I was ready for it based on surviving the first experience and I made the mistake of not looking away and getting too close. the combination to the senses made me seriously woozy - yes I'm weak when it comes to blood and guts stuff.

Thankfully we stopped at 2 kids.

That said I had zero problems with the scene - mostly because I could neither see nor smell it.

This thread takes the weirdest detours.

Obviously, Viserys will NOT die for an episode or three. When he dies, Alicent becomes unimportant and Rhaenyra becomes queen. Which brings up a theory I have that Rhaenyra might kill or have someone kill her father as a solution to her problems. In the meantime, he will linger so the drama continues.

Any guesses where Daemon goes from here?

Viserys' death has to be the kickoff to the real SHTF part of the series. They've built up the whole "people won't follow" Rhaenyra point so much, it points directly at a big conflict between her family and Alicent's. Plus, we haven't had many battles in this season...yet. I could see Daemon aligning with Rhaenyra (have we seen anything that indicates his affinity for Aegon?) or creating a third faction in pursuit of the throne.

I bet Viserys hangs out until the end of S1 and season 2 addresses the fallout.

assuming they follow the GoT flow, Viserys will die in episode 8, some sort of huge action/start of the war in episode 9, fallout in episode 10.

All things considered, there have been a fair number of deaths each episode (Aemma Arryn, Rhea Royce, Crab dude, Lyonel and Harwin Strong, Laena). Really didn't see Laena going out that quickly, especially since they just aged her up and had her married to Daemon. I wonder if Laenor would be cool with Rhaeynra hooking up with her uncle Daemon on the side. At least he'd get silver haired babies. But that ship may have already sailed.

All I have to say is I learned a "best practice" of how to cut off someone's tongue from this show.

When the guy heated up the knife and cut off the other guys tongue, the burning hot knife seared the remaining end of the tongue at the same time of the cut. Thus, it kept the tongue from bleeding out.

Kind of cool and thoughtful of them...

I'm sure this knowledge was passed down from tongue cutter to tongue cutter over generations.

I actually personally love the birthing noise derail this thread has been on for the over exaggeration of how upset people are being painted as being at the scene and the additional hilarious defense of it by stating we don't know what birthing is like in Westeros.

As someone that has been apart of 100+ deliveries (in reality), it was absurd, and in no way consistent with any sound ever heard during a delivery, period (well i guess unless someone was making balloon animals in the delivery suite). There are plenty of visceral and sometimes disgusting sounds that happen during childbirth, no need to add a rubber balloon noise (seriouslyā€¦how is anyone defending this?).

In all, it's not really a big deal and I still love this show, but I thought it was hilariously bad and I think it is bizarre that there are so many on this thread passionately defending it. It's okay to admit that a good show has some very minor, nit-picky flaws.
