Huge congrats to freshman Sydney Lessentine on a great game! NINE strikeouts! Her first collegiate game and start was a 'pitcher's duel' and she handled it really, really well. Freshman Kate Munnerlyn only in for one inning but did well. Looking forward to seeing more innings from her.

Allie broke her non-hitting spell with a 3-run homer - good for her!

Freshmen KK and Frankie continue to shine. KK gets her first collegiate HR - good for her! The two combined for the only run in the 1-0 win vs ACU. Fellow freshman Kelsey Mathis pinch ran a few times but finally got to bat. A SAC fly to CF scored a run. Good for her! I hope to see more of her in the future because she was an offensive powerhouse all four years in HS but with Kramer, Allie and Frankie in the OF her time will be limited this year.

Sidne did better this time around. She leads the team with 12 strikeouts AND only a single walk - both are wonderful! As a team, 35 strikeouts with only 8 walks. Really good ratio.

Bottom of the order with KK, Frankie and Kramer continue to impress. Kramer currently leads the team with a .600 BA. See rest of the stats here:

One more game in the tourney. Next week the team heads for Florida for a tournament with better competition. Will be a good test.

I wonder if a "other sb games" thread would be of any interest.

You could start with Oklahoma @ Long Beach St, 0-0, t11th. 2 base running errors by the home team in the last 2 innings.

Edit: Oklahoma wins 2-0 in 11.

Not a great day for the SEC

13-2 overall. A couple teams like OU and LSU survived scares against unranked opponents

No wins against ranked teams today

Clearwater should pose a significantly greater level of competition. Keep it rolling ladies.

In an interview Coach Ford said that Harger made up the non-conference schedule.

Designed so that the competition gets harder and harder each weekend, all leading toward SEC play. A lot of schools do this and it is a very good thing to do.

Most years our season starts with a home tournament, always a good idea. We have played really tough tournaments in CA and FL the second week of the season in past years. Some years we do well, some years not so much.

After this coming weekend, we will have two games against FSU, at their place. It will be good for all the girls, especially the freshmen, to experience a hostile crowd early because the SEC is full of hostile crowds. Once again, preparing for SEC play.

I'm looking forward to the challenge !!

Don't sleep on SE La at FSU as well. They gave LSU all they could handle this weekend. I like this schedule although except the lack of midweek games to keep the hitters sharp. Will be interesting to see the effect that has on the bats as we get into conference play

Oh, I know SE LA is good, they have played us tough in the past. Mentioned only FSU because the tourney is at their place, with their crowd. Great test for the freshmen, especially.

Cannot really overlook any school. Learned that years ago. This past weekend's 1-0 win over ACU is a great example. They gave up a lot of runs in their previous games but ... well, you know what happened in our game with them.

Personal note - a brother graduated from Louisiana many years ago (was USL back then). My mom was a HUGE Cajun fan. I follow their games closely, in memory of my mom. They play NE LA and LSU every year.

When we played Louisiana in the WCWS in 2008 my mom rooted for the Cajuns when we played them. She always supported the Aggies - except when they played Louisiana. I was at that tournament and went to their games as well as the Aggie games. I sent my mom a shirt with the eight teams listed, she loved it!
