Am I the only one here that could probably not name more than 2 characters of this show, yet love every episode and pay attention to every moment? It was similar for GoT. I just don't have a mind to store names and keep up with bloodlines. Most posts on this thread when names are mentioned, I have to reference to google to see what character is being talked about.

Maybe I have some name association disability but GoT has uniquely exploited it more than any other series/show.

Right there with you. Whatever you do, don't venture into/admit as much in The Rings of Power thread. I'm getting all kinds of sh*t for not remembering the name of character who had, like, two scenes in a movie released 21 years ago.
ISILDUUUUUUUUR
(this is a joke, its not ridiculous to not remember a character. the scene is just a bit ridiculous, so it always stuck in my brain. The main problem on that thread is people catching up on it, reading your post about not knowing him, and thinking they need to let you know about it all over again)

Love how Daemon at the end of the scuffle wordless sends his stepsons away, sighs, and stands there and just looking at his nephew. We all know what he's thinking.

'Looks like I'm going to have to do some Targaryen kinslaying one day, starting with this one'

Daemon probably felt like he was looking in a mirror. The two of them together would be a more lethal duo than most in GOT

Matt Smith has done an amazing job with Daemon and his progression on screen. He still has that "i could do anything at any given moment, i dont care about anything or anybody" vibe, but he has done a great job depicting the progression of his character's feelings towards his older brother.

I felt like they were depicting the younger illegit brother not really feeling like he wanted to claim the Driftwood Throne. Maybe that wasn't the intention of his scenes leading up to the appearance in front of the King and during it, but that is how I was interpreting it. Cant remember if he is Jacerys or Lucerys.

Why give her a bag of coin if it was to kill her?

Hush money, and get her to leave Kings Landing.
To make her compliant. She drinks the tea. She dies. You take the coins back & dispose of the body.

Exactly. She dead.

The following quote from Little Finger works for this one. Except poison being used instead of a bolt.

"Money Buys A Man's Silence For A Time. A Bolt In The Heart Buys It Forever."

Lucyers.

Jacerys is slated to be King behind his mother, so he can't hold the Driftwood Throne.

Definitely. The younger version of Luke mentioned it before, and I still get that vibe from him.

I can't remember if this has been mentioned, but didn't Aegon smile when the Strong boys were confirmed as legitimate? Was he smiling because it shores up their line and means he is free not to be king? He clearly hasn't wanted the job.

Jace definitely feels like he's not long for this world. No idea what happens with Aegon, but he doesn't feel like he'll ever sit the throne either, whether he dies or abdicates to his brother. (Is that allowed in Westeros?)

However it happens, I think it'll be Aemond fighting for the throne.

My prediction is that Daemon ends up killing Aemond, Jace is killed, Aegon is out of the picture (dead, absconded to Essos, etc), Luke is Lord of Driftmark, and the Iron Throne ends up with one of the trueborn Targs born to Rhaenyra and Daemon.

It took me a while to realize why Luke was in line for driftwood as the second born. But I guess the first born is in line for the iron throne.

There was also a moment when Rhaenys announced that she was supporting Rhaenyra , and accepting the marriage offers.
Both daughters smiled at each other, and thats a nice touch because Rhaenyra's sons were the ones that stepped in and defended them from ol One-eye.

I think the only question is will it go longer than 4 at this point, seeing the smash success it's having.

I hope not. Keep it at 4 and then reset for another series if that is what the story should be.

A great 4 seasons is much better than a great 4 and an okay 2.

What if they fill in some gaps with flashbacks? (Mentioned this before the season even started, I think.)

And that way we could even get the younger Alicent and Rhaenyra actors back.

For example, like mentioned in that GRRM blog post, we could go back and see how Rhaenyra and Harwin Strong's relationship developed, Alicent and Criston, etc.

The trick will be to find a way to tie those storylines into present day events, thematically.

You just mean the start of Targaryens coming over to Westeros?
That could be a cool show for a couple seasons

Maybe he's a book reader masquerading as a non-reader. Then he makes "guesses" while simultaneously complaining that others are posting spoilers.

Pretty sure in Game of Thrones itself they tell you the time frame of Dance of Dragons. Both in the show and the books.
I have not personally read the book this show is based on, becuase I decided I wouldnt read anythign he puts out that isnt the next Game of Thrones book.

maybe I just made an incorrect leap of logic, but to me it was just a way of referencing both political intrigue and potentially actually war between various Targaryen factions.
That was my expectation coming into the show, based off of how George RR Martin would name/describe other historical stuff in his books. Could be way off

Jaehaerys' reign was one of the most boring parts of F&B to me. Too much stability. Aegon/Aenys/Maegor would have made for a cool 1-2 season miniseries though
