By the way, regarding the whole "Targaryans are immune to fire" line of thinking... Laena has her dragon spew a great, big fireball and she flies around it. Daemon and his dragon fly right through the middle of it.
Laena = Valyrion (only mom was Targ)
Daemon = Targaryan (both parents were Targs)
Maybe being fire-proof is a genetic trait that is recessive and you need TWO genes to get it. Doesn't mean that both your parents have to be Targaryans but both your parents must have Targ bloodlines... and even then it is a genetic crapshoot.
Fun lore trivia:
Daenerys has a significant amount of blood of the First Men in her family tree through House Blackwood. She also may actually be related to the Starks in general, not just Jon.
Aegon V - Daenerys' great-grandfather - was born in 200 AC and died in 259 AC at the Tragedy of Summerhall.
Aegon V married Betha Blackwood in 220AC when she was 19, which puts her birthdate in 201 AC.
We also know of a person called Melantha Blackwood, who was grandmother of Rickard Stark and great-grandmother to Ned, Lyanna, Brandon, and Benjen, but no dates for her birth and death.
Some message board nerds did the math based on known birthdates (Brandon, Ned, etc.) and calculated that Melantha's birthdate would have likely fallen between 204 and 223 AC. Since the Targaryens and Starks were both major families and unlikely to marry some scrub Blackwood from way down the family tree, it's possible that Betha and Melantha were either sisters or cousins (or possibly aunt/niece).
This means that if Melantha and Betha were sisters, Rhaegar and Ned would have been third cousins.
Melantha - Edwyle - Rickard - Ned
Betha - Jaehaerys II - Aerys - Rhaegar
Aegon V and Betha's children married each other - Jaehaerys II and Shaera - and their children - Aerys and Rhaella - married each other, and had Daenerys, Rhaegar and Viserys - which means Dany is still basically half Blackwood.
