Henry Cavill is perfect for the roll. He was great in The Man from UNCLE and I'm sure he's going to kill it in MI6.

Michael Fassbender would be the best bond ever.

Nevermind. He's not American. He's born in St Helier, Jersey, which my mind filled in the "New".

The fact that Henry Cavill doesn't have this wrapped up kinda tells you everything about Henry Cavill

Any chance we could see them going with John Boyega?

I love Boyega, but he doesn't seem quite right. A little too short and stocky, I imagine.

In case anyone missed this from the previous page / yesterday, it's looking more and more like Boyle will be directing the final Craig outing. For those unfamiliar, Boyle is the director of Transporting, 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, and Steve Jobs. He was born and raised in England and I'm kind of surprised he hasn't directed a Bond film yet. Could be the perfect director to wrap up the current iteration.

He's been my favorite Bond successor ever since First Class.

I think Fassbender would be a great Bond. Idris Elba would be my top choice though.

Ok, now I'm intrigued. I really enjoy his films but they're definitely on the quirky side at times, very interested to see what he does with Bond.

Surprised Ridley Scott has never directed a Bond movie.

I wonder if Chris Nolan could be persuaded after doing the Dark Knight Trilogy.

I'd also support Katherine Bigalow to direct a Bond.

Nolan has been discussed for years and has stated publicly that he's interested. My guess is that he directs the first movie for the next Bond/iteration.

All Bond reboots need to be directed by Martin Campbell. He can have #2.

I, too, would love to see Elba as Bond.

However, he is currently 45 years old. As said earlier, casting won't be until 2022 for a 2023 release. He'll be 50 when the new Bond premieres on the big screen. By comparison, Craig was 38 when Casino Royal came out. And he was considered "old" even then by some people.

That's exactly the scene that always stuck with me, what a badass.

And then there's this, of course.

He's already directed Bond, too (he directed the London Olympics' opening ceremony):

The fact that he'd be black is no issue, but dadgummit, 007 is known for his ability to get the opposite sex into bed. You want a bi-sexual secret agent, create your own. If they do this to 007, it'll be the first time I won't be seeing a Bond flick.

Wow, this is pretty interesting...

Basically, a script for Bond 25 exists, but is still being refined and developed by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, who have written on every Craig Bond film save for Quantum of Solace. However, Boyle and another writer have come up with a completely separate take, pitched it, and should have a draft of their script complete in the next two months. At that point, MGM and the producers will decide which version to go with. If Boyle's version isn't chosen, Boyle won't direct, and MGM will need to find a different director. Either way, this tells me the Purvis/Wade version likely isn't all that great (at least yet), considering the powers that be are willing to pit a competing script against it.

I trust Boyle, and hopefully his version wins out, but this entire scenario doesn't seem ideal from a development / pre-production point of view. Granted, there's definitely enough time, but not being able to make key decisions even on pre-production until this summer - 18 or so months out - might be cutting it close should anything go wrong. Especially since we don't know if Purvis & Wade are still working on their version throughout this or if their duties have been put on pause. Such a weird situation...

Hell, put Dev Patel in the gym for about 4 years and tell him to grow some stubble and make a Slumdog Bond movie. He's a Brit and he can act.

at one point, there was some talk about a James Bond Cinematic Universe focusing on some of the other characters in the Bond universe.

what if instead of movies about Q, moneypenny or M, we just introduced some of the other Double-O agents and gave them films? then you'd be free to cast awesome actors/actresses without regard to whether they fit the "Bond" mold or not.

He should be the far and away favorite. It shouldn't even be up for debate...

He's the perfect age, he looks exactly like what you think when you hear the name "Bond".
He's been in huge movies, and he's even done spy movies. He checks every box and then some...

Yet despite all that, he's not even really close to being the favorite. And not many people are campaigning for him. Why? Because he's just a boring, stale guy, who doesn't have the x-factor and the presence that guys like Fassbender, Idris Elba, Daniel Craig, and Sean Connery have.

You either got it or you don't. And Bond has it... Unfortunately for Superman, he just doesn't seem to.

A lot of talk about which studio is going to land this franchise, but there's also some interesting potential story points as well...

Quote:

A tidbit at the end of THR's story claims that Boyle's deal is now done, according to "a source", which leads us onto the fun part: rumours about what exactly is in the draft Bond 25 script which John Hodge has allegedly completed. Now, this comes with very heavy qualifiers as it's coming from a Reddit poster, but they're saying Bond will be going up against a female villain (a first for Craig) who has a personal connection to Bond, a role for which Boyle is looking to cast an A-lister and currently both taking and scheduling meetings with "the usual suspects". Furthermore, there's a young female MI6 agent Bond is mentoring: she may have been cast already.
