me too...for me, it is the most re-watchable bond movie. if i'm flipping channels and see it, i will always tune in no matter where it is in the film.

i was going to ask if a Bond song had ever debuted before the film, but apparently they did with Skyfall, so who knows
I'm pretty sure I remember Sam Smith's Spectre song dropping before the movie too, because I specifically remember discussing my disappointment with friends and how we were worried it didn't bode well for the rest of the movie.

I'm currently a little over halfway through my Bond rewatch, basically doing a Bond film per week leading up to No Time To Die. Just finished Octop*ssy, and needless to say I'm pretty ready to move on from the Roger Moore era.

I think I remember Die Another Day playing on the radio before the movie's release.
Thanks and gig'em

Good luck gutting your way through Grace Jones next week.

That's my recollection too. Alicia Keys was getting a ton of radio play back then.

If he's following the release order of 007 movies, next week will be Never Say Never Again (yeah, not an "official" Bond movie, but still a pretty good one).

Live and Let Die was out before the movie, and was also nominated for an Oscar.

QoS is one of those that has grown on me. it definitely suffers from being sandwiched between casino royale and skyfall.

I feel like QoS has a lot of great moments but never quite comes together as a complete story. But it's still a lot of fun.

The movie it's a direct sequel to? Why wouldn't I compare them? And no, it's not "very good" because you say it is. It's not a fact.

Watched Spectre with my son. I enjoyed it. It is the first time i've been able to watch a Bond film with one of my boys. It's a right of passage (in my mind - explaining the history of the franchise and the common elements with the others).

Ready for last Daniel Craig installment.

That was Goldeneye for me. I remember my dad explaining who James Bond was and taking me to see it in the theater.

I was 10 years old in late '64 or early '65 when my 22 year old brother took four of us siblings to a Dr. No/From Russia With Love double feature. Been a James Bond fan ever since. Ursula Andress and whomever played the Russian spy with the Lector machine made a deep impression on me.
Almost as much as the one my parents did when they found out what my brother did. I still remember that dust up. They were mortified that we were exposed to such a thing at our young ages.
Like so many others, I can't wait until this one hits the theater.

Hadn't seen Skyfall in a few years. Still as great as I remember.

Few things:

  • Man, that cinematography is ON POINT. I wish Deakins had come back for this last movie.
  • I guess I had forgotten how standalone this movie is from the rest of the Craig movies. The three others are all pretty much a continuation of each other, with MI6 pursuing Le Chiffre -> Quantum -> SPECTRE. But Skyfall doesn't mention any of those, Mr. White, or even Vesper.
  • It's interesting how simple and straightforward this story is. It's just one man bent on revenge, and that's really it. No other convoluted plots, like in QoS and many others.
  • I really enjoy the last act of the movie. From the moment Bond takes M off the grid, to the end of the movie, it feels very intimate and small-scale. You basically just have Bond, M, Kincade, and Raoul Silva for the last half hour or so. Very unique and different from the rest of the series.
  • An awesome way for Judi Dench to go out, making her a main character in her final movie.
  • Skyfall may be the best theme in the whole franchise.

Official video for "The World is Not Enough" by Garbage

I always liked this theme. The movie was pretty awful. Even Sophie Marceau and Denise Richards couldn't save it.

I've recently been rewatching all the Bond movies from Goldeneye up to Skyfall. (Watching Spectre tonight.)

Here is how I'd rank those theme songs...

1. Skyfall
2. Goldeneye
3. You Know My Name
4. Writing's on the Wall
5. The World is Not Enough
6. Tomorrow Never Dies
7. Another Way to Die
8. Die Another Day

The last two are the only ones I straight up dislike. Also, after No Time to Die, 4 out of the last 8 Bond themes will have the word "die" in it.

Die Another Day is the worst Bond theme song.

Ever.

And it's not even a close race between that one and whatever would be second worst.
