Tickets bought for Thursday, October 7 at 4 PM. Chinese Theater IMAX in Hollywood. First official showing. Then, waking up early Friday morning for my flight to Texas for Bama/A&M.

Gonna be a great weekend.

I agree about 95% of the time - some movies actually worked. The theater I go to has an XD screen - guess they're showing 3D for this instead. Might have to go to another one that has XD or IMAX 2D.

I was right there with you. I thought 3D was completely dead. I haven't seen a movie listed in 3D anywhere in LA, NY, or Texas in years. But I looked it up, and sure enough, No Time To Die is "the first ever Bond film to be released in 3D." Huh. Personally, I hate 3D with a passion and would avoid it like the plague. There's no way it was actually shot in 3D, so it's gotta be one of those post-production conversations, i.e. fake 3D, which is always worse than the stuff they actually used to shoot in 3D.

The first 3D movie I saw in the theater was Avatar and it was incredible. Saw a few more over the years and none measured up.

We try and see all the big movies in XD at our local theater but will probably skip 3D for NTTD.

I would pass on any movie in 3D. Back in the 80s, it was a gimmick where someone inevitably thrust some pointy object "into the audience." Since Avatar, the technology was supposedly improved, but I can't comment on that movie since I only saw it in 2D. I saw several where the 3D was a post conversion effort that rarely looked real. Beauty and the Beast (animated) actually appeared translucent. The Phantom Menace was slightly better but still looked like the add-on that it was. I doubt NTTD was actually filmed in 3D.

Got tickets on Thursday 10/7 at 7:45pm - regular XD. Then hopefully heading to CS Friday for Bama weekend - no tickets secured yet for the game.
