Idk if Samanic would have been there at 29, so we would have had to either trade back from 19 or trade up from 29. Also I don't think this is that similar to Jean Charles. Samanic has way more skill and isn't just an athletic tweener. He may or may not pan out, but I don't hate this the way I hated the Jean Charles pick.

There was some mention of Luka at 29 to the Spurs. West Texan was the first one I'd seen calling him at 19. Kudos by the way.

This has been a good draft for the Spurs filling needs while also getting guys with potential to grow. Samanic fills the need for an athletic stretch 4 and Johnson is the kind of 3 and D sing we've been needing. If Murray, White, and Walker can all progress and improve, we've got a very solid foundation of young guys.

And they're both only 19 which is good. So I'd imagine Luka stays in Europe and Johnson will spend his time in the D-League right? I wonder of Luka would play in our summer league.

Still think they should play the long game and trade Demar and see what can be had for him. This team as constructed still isn't legitimately a contender and trading him forces these young players to grow into bigger roles. Hand holding time is over. Get something meaningful for Demar, finish maybe slightly worse and have a slightly better draft pick next year.

And now watch this post age well as Demar wins finals mvp next year.
