Well we know DeMar and LMA can't lead this team in the playoffs. But at least we know that Brynn Forbes is a player. Gotta hope White further develops, Walker turns into something, and that we strike gold this draft. Even with DJ back, assuming we get a better seed, I don't see this team doing much in the playoffs. Hope they can prove me wrong.

Because he's a dumbass.

And Patty Mills didn't try to foul, either.

Great job battling back, but then DeRozen lost the game with about four really bad plays in the final minute (on both ends). This is the problem with going for maximum talent even when it's dumb. Then, HOW DO YOU NOT FOUL?!?! Pop was halfway out on the court yelling for it, I was afraid he was going to get a technical.

At least Gay showed up.

Looking ahead to next year, Rudy Gay is the only guy that got consistent playing time that's a free agent (unrestricted). Even if we don't resign him, there should be much more continuity on the team with Derozan and Poeltl entering their second season with the team. That should help those early season games where we dropped some head scratchers this year. White is a known commodity now, and should develop even more. If he can work on his three point shot and become a weapon to pull up when guys go under screens on the pick and roll, look out. We'll get Murray back and Lonnie will have a year of work with the organization under him. So some reason to feel optimistic. We'll have all offseason to look at the roster and potential moves to be made, but I think we should see improvement next season.

Embarrassing end of the game. How in the hell do you not know to foul there. Down 4 under 30 seconds left. It's freaking basic high school knowledge. So pissed off

Spurs won't get this type of path to the WCF in a long time. It's a shame they couldn't take advantage of the way things shook out in the seedings.

If only we had a championship seasoned coach like Mike D'Antoni to turn things around.

Watch the game until I heard the last 6 minutes while driving. From what I heard they could not get stops and get rebounds. Even the radio guy was saying why aren't they fouling in the the end. Just saw the highlights of the 30 seconds. Not sure what the hell they were doing. You see Pop and coaches yelling foul.

The first half hurt them. Marco and White were non existent this game. Wouldn't mind if Bertrans was in. At least he can play defense better than Marco.

Rudy played great. At least they caught up.

I tell myself this is the Spurs they can do this, but then when I see an outcome of a game I have to remind myself this isn't the Spurs I grew up with. Us Spurs fans are spoiled with the big 3 over the years.

Rudy - hopefully he comes back.
Murray - is much needed at the point and should help them
Marco - I think it's time to move on but he has 1 more year
White - can only get better
Pop - think he comes back

I knew the season will be a learning one but for a new team with their starting PG out for the season, getting 48 wins and taking the 2 seed to game 7 was surprising. The team can only get better with Murray back at point and another year with everyone together.

I think they need another young athletic player that can create their own shot and a big guy.

Patty had 5 fouls. He couldn't. Anyone else could have ran up to foul Jokic and yet no one did.

Edit - not saying that excuse LA, but literally anyone but Patty could have made that foul and stayed in the game.

This makes no sense. So the thought process is Patty stood there with his thumb up his butt and chose to watch the season end instead of getting his sixth?

There were other guys in the bench who could come in, but without the foul the game and season end. If that was his thought process he's a selfish sob and they ought to waive his ass.

For all the talk of the Spurs and the corporate knowledge and experience of their veterans, the last 30 seconds of this game were an epic failure by Pop, LA, and Patty.

Guess I shouldn't complain having 2 allstars but LA and derozan are far from optimal players in today's nba and will never fail to let you down when it matters most

We were really, really spoiled with high IQ players like Robinson, Duncan, and Ginobili for about 30 years.

Well, it was a disappointing finish but I will say that I think the future is bright. Yes they need one or two more pieces to the puzzle but I don't think the sky is falling. Maybe they will use this disappointing finish as a springboard to an awesome run next year. There is going to be a lot of movement in the offseason. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Most disappointing thing about this series was how badly Jocik bullied LA. Guy is a great player but he shrinks at the worst times

My predictions for this year. These are the ones I posted on the first couple pages, i doubt if I made any others.

Spurs 48 wins and an early exit: correct
2018-19 Derrick White is basically 2017-18 Bryn Forbes: incorrect
NOLA same to slightly better: incorrect at -15 w/l (although the Anthony Davis situation didn't help)
OKC same to slightly better: correct at +1 w/l
Utah better: partial credit going from 48 to 50 wins; probably need +5 to be sure it's not just noise

Going into next year, we need to learn how to play help defense again, DeRozen to gain 50 basketball iq points, Murray to come back with a 38% corner 3, White shooting 35% on pull up threes off of high screens, and Aldridge to consistently finish plays in the paint. Wouldn't hurt to find a legit swing defender either, we aren't flexible enough on defense. Maybe this is Murray, but he still looks way too thin to handle anyone with a post game.

The most irritating thing about this team to me is probably how Aldridge will do all the hard work to bury a defender on offense or establish a good box out for a defensive rebound, but then instead of finishing the play strong he flips the ball toward the rim or tips the ball to himself, respectively, instead of going up strong. For a guy that big and talented I don't understand why he allows himself to miss so many layups and rebounds when he already did the hard part.

I think our help defense will be better next year with DJ back and more experience together. But unfortunately even with perfect rotations, physically, this team has some limitations.

It's hard for me to be mad at LMA. He was our rock all season. Our most consistent player output and effort wise IMO. You could tell he felt like absolute dog crap in the postgame interviews for not fouling. We just have to accept the fact he can't put us on his back in the playoffs. And that's okay. We just need someone who can. With development I think that player can be White.

It would make all the difference in the world if DeMar could shoot threes too. I know everyone has been saying that his whole career. But who knows, maybe a full summer's work with Chip could help with that.

Re-signing Brynn Forbes should be priority #1 this offseason. Hopefully they can lock him into a fair, long term contract.

Edit: Forbes isn't a FA until the following season. Would he be eligible for an extension this summer?

Spurs will need to do some roster management, particularly to deal with the crowded backcourt - White, Murray, Forbes, Walker, Mills; plus you have Derozan and Bellinelli playing at the 2/3 spots. Probably need to move one of those guys (DeRozan being the top suspect) for a 3 and D wing.

Or maybe you package Forbes with the two firsts to move up high enough to get LMA's eventual replacement.

I was somewhat pleased with pushing the series to 7, although it was there for the taking and could've been won, as well as the 4th quarter comeback, but I was disgusted with the last minute and LMA's brainlock for not fouling, so turned off the TV as soon as the game ended.

Did LMA get asked about not fouling and what was his answer?

Thanks. He didn't hide from it at least, to his credit.

If he was a rookie I might find his response refreshing. But with his experience his willingness to own up to his stupidity doesn't really make it all that much less frustrating/infuriating.

Hopefully we can at least get home court in first round of playoffs. How times have changed.

next year will be super interesting.

would you rather have LMA, Demar, Derek White and Murray

OR

Luka, Porzingis, Middleton (if they get him)

Luka, Porzongis (with a solid chance of good health), Middleton without question.

That's Spurs lineup won't contend. The Mavs lineup could with some growth, maturation and good pieces around it. The Mavs lineup has more upside, essentially.

3 years, 125million left

And he rolled over 1000 total NBA games in addition to his international experience. Not a good thing for someone that relies on his quickness.

Paul shot .419/.358 this year. Career low and 2nd lowest in last 12 seasons.

Chris Paul used the remainder of his playoff magic in his game 7 duel with Timmy a few years back. He has nothing left in the playoff tank. He's done. And the crazy part is they don't need a PG like him anyway with Harden on the roster.

But as the other thread will tell you, Morey is an all time genius. Lol. Good grief.
